CMP to Begin 2015 Regional Air Rifle Championships at Famed Camp Perry Air Range

CAMP PERRY, Ohio - The Civilian Marksmanship Program (CMP) will kick off the next phase of the 2015 CMP 3PAR Competition with the Regional Championship, held in the world-class Gary Anderson CMP Competition Center at Camp Perry, March 26-28. Top junior marksmen involved in 4-H, Scouts, American Legion, club or JROTC air rifle programs will compete to determine who will move on to the final stage of the Championships.

Marine Corps Teams Draw Wins at the 2015 JROTC National Championship, Hampton and Enger Earn Individual Champion Honors

 

CAMP PERRY, OH - The Civilian Marksmanship Program (CMP) was proud to play host to a group of 213 junior marksmen in Army, Navy, Air Force and Marine Corps JROTC Programs during the 2015 JROTC National Championship - held at the Gary Anderson CMP Competition Center at Camp Perry, OH, March 19-21, 2015.

Enger wins JROTC national championship - Union-Bulletin.com - CAMP PERRY, Ohio - Walla Walla High School sophomore Cadet Sergeant Daniel Enger became the 2015 National JROTC Rifle Champion last Saturday at the JROTC All Service National Championship in Camp Perry, Ohio. Wa-Hi's precision rifle team took second place in the team category, firing at 4,638 out of 4,800 points over the course of the two-day match. The team, consisting of Cadet Major Nathan Brewer, Cadet First Sergeant Sabrina Keenan, Cadet Sergeant Justin Mebes and Enger arrived in Ohio early last week to start preparing for the competition. Women in Conservation Series starting soon - OAK HARBOR - The Ottawa Soil and Water Conservation District Women in Conservation Series is starts in April. Events takes place at various locations in Ottawa County from 5:30 to 8 p.m. on the third Wednesday of every month from April through September. The first workshop April 15 at Camp Perry at the Civilian Marksmanship Program's Gary Anderson CMP Competition Center new state-of-the-art indoor air rifle range. During the session, there will be a presentation on the history of Camp Perry and the Civilian Marksmanship Program followed by hands-on instruction and use of the riffle range. Florida's Hernando County Youth WIN BIG at 2015 State of Florida 4-H Shooting Sports - Small Bore Rifle competition, hosted at Hernando Sportsman's Club, Brooksville, FL -March 7, 2015 - Several Hernando County, FL, youth recently won at the 2015 State of Florida 4-H Shooting Sports small bore rifle competition on March 7, hosted at the Hernando Sportsman's Club in Brooksville, FL.

 

Winners from Hernando County, FL, included Victor Hili, Tyler Crossley, Faith Hughes, Miguel Reyes, Madison Prack, Hannah Prack, Kyle Curabba, Marie Aguele and Cari Lovett. Victor Hili won 1st place as the overall winner and Tyler Crossley won 2nd place in the Individual competitions - Intermediate age division for the whole state of Florida.

 

Victor Hili, Tyler Crossley, and Faith Hughes won 1st place as a team for the Intermediate age division. 

Miguel Reyes won 1st place as the overall winner in the Individual competitions - Senior age division, with Kyle Curabba winning 2nd place, Hannah Prack winning 3rd place, and Madison Prack winning 4th place overall.  

Kyle Curabba, Miguel Reyes, and Marie Aguele won 1st place as a team for the Senior age division.

 

Special thanks to the Hernando Sportsman's Club, Hernando 4-H Coach Bob Bacon, and all the Florida 4-H parents for encouraging and supporting all the participants at the competition.

 

 

 

News from the CMP 

 

In Memoriam - Master Chief Timothy E. Strickland, U.S. Navy (Ret.) entered into eternal rest on March 20, 2015. He proudly served 24 years in the United States Navy, with the later part of his career being served in the Command Master Chief Program. He was highly decorated and attained the highest enlisted rank of E-9. He loved every year he spent and ship he served on while in the U.S. Navy. He took his Navy career to West Ashley High School as a Naval Science Instructor. He served not only the NJROTC cadets, but all students he came into contact with. Click here for more details.

USA Shooting - Safe Sport: Did You Know? USA Shooting has worked with the U.S. Olympic Committee to develop a policy and online training course called Safe Sport. They have recently updated the online training course with some additional information on sexual abuse that is important for all parents, athletes and coaches. The shooting sports are a lifelong activity. CMP Club Annual Reports.  CMP Affiliated Clubs, State Associations and MOUs are encouraged to visit http://thecmp.org/clubs/club-annual-reports/ to complete an annual Club Renewal and Activity Report to renew their affiliation with the CMP. The Club Activity Report requests current data about CMP Affiliated Clubs and information about the club's activities during the calendar year 2014. Information reported is used to determine the organization's eligibility for CMP programs as well as to evaluate and develop CMP programs. 2015 Club Renewal and Activity Reports are due no later than April 1, 2015. The CMP Games - Oklahoma will feature clinics, SAFS/M16 match, EIC Rifle Match, GSMM Four Gun Aggregate, Vintage Sniper Match, CMP As-Issued 1911 Pistol Match, Military & Police Service Pistol Match, EIC Pistol match, and several other events! The Civilian Marksmanship Program invites you and your team to participate in the CMP's Monthly Matches. The matches will take place on the dates listed below at the CMP's Marksmanship Centers North and South. The competitions will feature a Junior Air Rifle 3x20 and 3x10, a 60 Shots Air Rifle and Air Pistol match, and a 20 shot Novice Prone match. Rental equipment is available for the monthly matches for a small fee.
