Juniors Return for 2015 JROTC Regional Air Rifle Championship
|
CAMP PERRY, Ohio; ANNISTON, Alabama - Young marksmen from Army, Marine Corps, Navy and Air Force Junior Reserve Officers' Training Corps (JROTC) programs will flock north to Port Clinton, as well as south and west locations, to participate in one of the Civilian Marksmanship Program's (CMP) largest air rifle events of the year. The 2015 JROTC Service Regional Championships will be held in the Gary Anderson CMP Competition Center at Camp Perry and the CMP Marksmanship Center February 13-15, bringing a slew of patrons to the Port Clinton and Anniston areas.

Demmer Center at MSU Offers Olympic-Scale Marksmanship Ranges for Public Use

The Demmer Center vision is to develop a world-class shooting sports education and training center that provides a safe, clean, family atmosphere appealing to both shooters and non-shooters across all demographics, with or without disabilities. Marksmanship, rifle a family tradition for junior shooter - By Seth Olson, Daily Nebraskan - The sport of rifle has been all about exposure for junior Marissa Major. When she was 10 years old, her cousin Max Burkhardt, who now shoots on the Memphis Tigers Rifle team, encouraged her to give the sport a shot. Little did Major know, giving rifle a fair chance would give her plenty of shots to take on the range in the coming years. Franklin County marksmen stay at the top of their game - By Jason Dunovant, Smith Mountain Eagle - The Franklin County High School Junior ROTC's marksmanship team looks to be continuing their winning ways. Many team members have been given major accolades in recent weeks in addition to the entire team preparing for yet another national competition in Port Clinton, Ohio this weekend. "We qualified every team member, which consists of 20 shooters, to go to Ohio," team coach William Carter said recently by email. Stockbridge back on top - Air rifle team takes first in Area 12 Championships - By Johnny Jackson, Henry Daily Herald - STOCKBRIDGE - Precision air riflery is back on top at Stockbridge High. The Stockbridge High Navy JROTC air rifle team claimed a victory in Saturday's Area 12 competition held in Anniston, Ala. Senior Naval Science Instructor Capt. Ralph Malone coaches the cadets who include team Capt. Gregory Tickle, Jesse Harris, David Tickle, Tyler Slabaugh and Derrick George. Ready, Aim, Fire - Marksmen compete at Camp Perry - By Wanda Chandler, Sandusky Register - More than 200 competitors competed in the ninth annual Civilian Marksmanship Program's (CMP) at the Gary Anderson CMP Competition Center in Camp Perry Friday through Sunday. Among the many competing were members of the Army Marksmanship and the USA Shooting team. Competition events included the men's and women's 60 Shot Air Rifle and Pistol matches and 3x20 Junior Air Rifle for individual and team matches. Patch stays on target, repeats as champs - By Michael S. Darnell, Stars and Stripes - VILSECK, Germany - There came a point during Saturday's award ceremony for the 2015 DODDS European marksmanship finals where the number of trophies Patch received was almost gaudy. Patch, which seemed to have the team of the year award wrapped up even before the first pellet was fired Saturday, ended up leaving with eight trophies to add to its already impressive collection. Norman Anderson & Clear Image Solutions take 2015 INVEST Grand Prize - Knoxville Daily Sun - KNOXVILLE - Master Sergeant Norman Anderson's final pitch at the Tennessee Veterans Business Association's annual business expo earned a $5,000 grant for his company, Clear Image Solutions, from The Lawyers of Brown & Roberto. Anderson has designed and produced a rifle sight for the AR 15 rifle that is easy to use, easy to maintain, and affordable. Anderson was one of three finalists to make their pitch yesterday as part of INVEST, an annual business competition for veterans from The Lawyers of Brown & Roberto. The competition is open to East Tennessee veteran entrepreneurs who have been in business for fewer than three years. New startups, like Clear Image Solutions, were also encouraged to apply. All applicants were invited to participate in a four-part Business Bootcamp, hosted by the Knoxville Entrepreneur Center. CMP Garand-Springfield-Military Master Instructor
Training Workshop. Experienced rifle marksmanship instructors and shooters who would like to receive advanced training and be certified as "Master Instructors" to teach CMP-sanctioned Garand, Springfield and Vintage Military Rifle or Rimfire Sporter Clinics are invited to apply to attend a 2015 CMP Master Instructor Training Workshop. 2015 dates and locations are:

The CMP Games - Oklahoma, sponsored by the Civilian Marksmanship Program, will be held at the Oklahoma City Gun Club. The CMP Games - Oklahoma will feature clinics, SAFS/M16 match, EIC Rifle Match, GSMM Four Gun Aggregate, Vintage Sniper Match, CMP As-Issued 1911 Pistol Match, Military & Police Service Pistol Match, EIC Pistol match, and several other events! All events will take place at the OKC Gun Club's Range in Arcadia.

The Civilian Marksmanship Program invites you and your team to participate in the CMP's Monthly Matches. The matches will take place on the dates listed below at the CMP's Marksmanship Centers North and South. The competitions will feature a Junior Air Rifle 3x20 and 3x10, a 60 Shots Air Rifle and Air Pistol match, and a 20 shot Novice Prone match. Rental equipment is available for the monthly matches for a small fee.

The CMP "Aces" Postal satellite match offers all junior and adult air rifle and air pistol shooters a program designed to encourage participation in the sport and test marksmanship skills nationally with their peers. CMP Scholarship Program

The Civilian Marksmanship Program (CMP) offers $1000 one-year scholarships assistance to encourage and reward outstanding and deserving high school seniors on the basis of merit to selected high school seniors who are currently enrolled in a team or club that is participating in rifle or pistol marksmanship competitions. The CMP seeks applications from high school seniors who are currently compete in marksmanship competitions.

Open Public Shooting CMP Marksmanship Centers Tuesday & Thursday Evenings

Shooters, including aspiring new shooters, adult and youth, who live in the Anniston, Alabama, area are invited to take advantage of the opportunity to do practice shooting at the Marksmanship Center air gun ranges. Both 80-point, 10-meter air gun ranges are fully equipped with electronic targets that accommodate air rifle, air pistol or National Match Air Rifle shooting.
