TALLADEGA, AL - The Civilian Marksmanship Program (CMP) has released the latest details regarding the hours of operation, opening date, fees and much more of its

newest installation - the CMP Talladega Marksmanship Park. The range is scheduled to open for daily use to the public on May 6, 2015. Hours of operation will be

Wednesday-Saturday, 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. and Sunday, 1 p.m. - 5 p.m.

Top Winners and Individuals Named in 2014-2015 JROTC Postal Competition

    

A total of 11,515 young marksmen participated in the 2014-2015 JROTC Postal match, with the top shooters and teams in each branch earning an invitation to the JROTC

Regional Service Championships, to be held in Phoenix, AZ; Anniston, AL; and Camp Perry, OH. A list of invited teams and individuals are listed on CMP's website, by

JROTC Three-Position Air Rifle National Championship began in October with its opening Postal Competition, where cadets from Army, Navy, Marine Corps and Air Force JROTC programs submitted targets to the CMP to be scored and compared against top junior shooters around the country.

Palermo Sets Two New Records at 2014 Gary Anderson Invitational

    

  
 

CAMP PERRY, OH; ANNISTON, AL - The 2014 Gary Anderson Invitational (GAI) was held December 5-6 at the Gary Anderson CMP Competition Center in Camp Perry, OH, and the South CMP Marksmanship Center in Anniston, AL, to a group of 461 competitors from around the country. 3rd Annual Eastern USA Clinic and Championship a Huge Success

    

 

Thanks to the members of the Woburn Sportsman Association in Bedford, MA, we were able to host and run our third annual marksmanship hands-on clinic and championship.  The event would not have happened if the association did not generously open their doors to the junior community, which wants to learn more and to improve individual marksmanship skills.

Never too young, and this boy, 7, has an eye for it - By Ed Waters Jr. News-Post Staff, FrederickNewsPost.com - Frederick, MD - At the age of 7, a Frederick County marksman has earned several perfect 200 point scores in the Winchester/NRA Rimfire Rifle Marksmanship Qualification Program at the Monocacy Pistol Club. Konnar McGowan, guided by his grandfather Bob Wolfes, of Jefferson, shoots on a benchrest course, standing behind a bench and using sandbags, not a fixed rifle vise.

New CMP Talladega Marksmanship Park to Serve Gun Enthusiasts - ConstructionEquipmentGuide.com - Despite moving massive amounts of dirt, work appears to be on schedule for a $20 million outdoor shooting range in northeast central Alabama. Project Appleseed unites history, rifle marksmanship - By Kevin Robinson, pnj.com - On command, the 16 "riflemen-in-training" fell to their stomachs and fired off a volley of shots. Most of them hit their marks in or just outside of their one square-inch targets, the equivalent of a 400 yard shot. It was impressive marksmanship for a group with about four hours of instruction. Results come quickly at Project Appleseed events. In the two-day clinics, volunteers from the Revolutionary War Veterans Association give a crash course on the foundations of rifle marksmanship, some little-known history about the origins of the Revolutionary War and some context on the American rifleman's role in the conflict.

Kewanee soldier inducted in Army's marksmanship hall of fame - Story from the official homepage of the United States Army (www.army.mil) - KNOXVILLE, Tenn. - An Army Reserve soldier from Kewanee, was recently inducted in the U.S. Army Marksmanship Unit Service Rifle Hall of Fame, for his distinction and accomplishments as a rifle competition shooter. "It's inexplicable what an honor it really is. There's not really anything to compare it to," said Master Sgt. Norman Anderson, who is now the head coach of the Army Reserve Service Rifle Team and an Army Reserve careers counselor living in Knoxville, Tennessee.

CMP Scholarship Program

The Civilian Marksmanship Program (CMP) offers $1000 one-year scholarships assistance to encourage and reward outstanding and deserving high school seniors on the basis of merit to selected high school seniors who are currently enrolled in a team or club that is participating in rifle or pistol marksmanship competitions. The CMP seeks applications from high school seniors who are currently compete in marksmanship competitions.
