GLOCK Pledges $150,000 to CMP Talladega Marksmanship Park

    

CAMP PERRY, OHIO - GLOCK, Inc. has contributed $50,000 to the Civilian Marksmanship Program in support of its new CMP Talladega Marksmanship Park, which opens in the spring of 2015. The contribution is the first of three annual donations GLOCK Inc. has pledged to the CMP to benefit its new shooting sports park in Talladega County, Alabama. An oversized ceremonial check, in the amount of $50,000, was presented by Bob Radecki, GLOCK Inc. national sales manager, to Orest Michaels, CMP chief operating officer, in front of a receptive crowd at the 2014 National Trophy Rifle awards program Wednesday, 23 July in Camp Perry's Hough Auditorium.

Neubauer and Graw Top EIC Match During CMP-USMC Junior Highpower Clinic

    

CAMP PERRY, OH - On July 15-17, a group of 147 junior marksmen gathered at Camp Perry to take part in the Civilian Marksmanship Program (CMP)/United States Marine Corps (USMC) Junior Highpower Clinic. The course is designed to enhance rifle knowledge and skill, both mechanically and during competition. Juniors just beginning their rifling careers and those looking to further develop their abilities participate in the course year after year.

Freeman and Friend Overtake Difficult Hearst Doubles Match

    

CAMP PERRY, OH - On the morning of July 18, a throng of over 500 eager marksmen dug their feet into the dirt of the firing line on Camp Perry's Viale Range to earn the right to be called champions of the 2014 Hearst Doubles Match. This year, the match hosted 269 teams on the firing line.

Ten members of the West Seattle Totems air rifle team took part in the national championships in Ohio recently. Alec Patajo came home with first place honors and will go on to the American Legion National Championships at the end of July.

The CMP has scheduled two JMIC Master Instructor Courses in August. The JROTC Marksmanship Instructor Course, better known as "JMIC," is a marksmanship training course that must be completed by Army, Marine Corps, Navy and Air Force JROTC instructors before they can teach air rifle marksmanship to JROTC cadets. The class in Anniston, AL, will be held 5 August and the class at Camp Perry, in Port Clinton, OH, will be held on 7 August. Visit www.thecmp.org/Training/JMIC.htm for more information.

 

 

Do you want to learn more about rifle coaching or marksmanship? Help your shooting team get better? Coaching athletes, especially young athletes, is one of the most challenging endeavors--and one of the most rewarding. Some of the athletes you coach one day may represent U.S.A. in international competition. To help you give them the best start, you should participate in the NRA/USA Shooting/CMP Shooting Coach Certification Program. Western CMP Games & Creedmoor Cup Matches 

The 11th Western CMP Games and Creedmoor Cup Matches are co-sponsored by the Civilian Marksmanship Program and Creedmoor Sports, Inc. and will be held at the Ben Avery Shooting Facility in Phoenix, Arizona, on 10-19 October 2014. All interested shooters, whether new or experienced, recreation-oriented shooters or national championship contenders are invited to participate in these unique, national-level competitions.

Shooters, including aspiring new shooters, adult and youth, who live in the Anniston, Alabama, area are invited to take advantage of the opportunity to do practice shooting at the Marksmanship Center air gun ranges. Both 80-point, 10-meter air gun ranges are fully equipped with electronic targets that accommodate air rifle, air pistol or National Match Air Rifle shooting. Rental equipment is available for a small fee.
 
Open Public Shooting will not be held in the month of July in Port Clinton, OH. The Gary Anderson CMP Competition Center will be hosting the National Match Air Gun Events which are open to the public.
