CMP Announces Rulebook Changes for 2014-2015

 The CMP Rules Committee has approved the 2014-2015 18th Edition of the CMP Competition Rules for Service Rifle and Service Pistol and the 2014 2nd Edition CMP Rules for CMP Games Rifle and Pistol Matches. This is the earliest the CMP has released a new version of the Rulebooks, which previously were released in March or April. In another major change, the CMP Rimfire Sporter Rules, which were previously in a separate rulebook, are now included in the CMP Games Rules.

2014 High School/Collegiate Coach Clinic. USA Shooting is proud to announce they are hosting an all discipline (rifle, pistol and shotgun) coach clinic on 4-7 June 2014 for both collegiate and high school (HS) shooting program coaches at the Olympic Training Center. You should plan your arrival on 4 June and check out on 7 June to allow two fully scheduled days with the National Coaches that will include a SCATT clinic for both rifle and pistol coaches, advanced coaching techniques, ISSF/USAS rule changes, and other topics that you have requested. There will be flexibility in the agenda to allow changes that fit the group's needs and interest. USAS will provide dorm room and meals for the first 60 HS/collegiate coaches that register for this event. For more information, please visit the USA Shooting website.
 Inside the Bullseye - Stories of Olympic experiences and how sport target shooting has touched our lives forever - By Ruth Ann Anderson - January 2014 - An Old Royal Typewriter - After Gary returned from Tokyo, he was inundated with requests for speaking, mostly for athletic sports banquets and civic organizations in towns throughout the State of Nebraska. At the time, Gary was enrolled in Hastings College, Hastings, NE, where he was carrying a full course load and also serving as Student Body President. He was obviously very busy, but he enjoyed speaking to these groups and the messages he gave helped to clarify his ideas about the importance of sports participation and striving for excellence. Much of his appeal was due to the fact that he was the first Olympic individual gold medal winner ever from Nebraska. Read the complete article. CMP Club Annual Reports. CMP Affiliated Clubs, State Associations and MOUs are encouraged to visit http://www.thecmp.org/Clubs/AnnualReports.htm to complete an annual Club Renewal and Activity Report to renew their affiliation with the CMP. The Club Activity Report requests current data about CMP Affiliated Clubs and information about the club's activities during the calendar year 2013. Information reported is used to determine the organization's eligibility for CMP programs as well as to evaluate and develop CMP programs. 2014 Club Renewal and Activity Reports are due no later than April 1, 2014. Women Coach Survey. USA Shooting and several partner/allied organizations are interested in growing the number of women coaches in our shooting sports. We see a growing number of women/young ladies taking an interest and participating in competitive shooting sports. Please take a few minutes to provide us with some basic information to help us learn what the issues are for women becoming shooting coaches. Applications for $1,000 CMP Scholarships Now Available - The Civilian Marksmanship Program (CMP) has released applications for its annual scholarship program for the 2014-2015 Freshman college year. The CMP offers $1,000 one-year scholarships based on merit and rifle or pistol marksmanship affiliation to current high school seniors. CMP sponsors a nationwide three position air rifle postal (mail-in or correspondence) competition for all junior programs including all JROTC, 4H, Boy Scouts, and junior clubs. The top shooters in these matches will qualify for the CMP Regional Championships. This is a 3x10 match and the cost of this postal will be $5.00 per competitor.

Shooters, including aspiring new shooters, adult and youth, who live in the Camp Perry, Ohio area or Anniston, Alabama area are invited to take advantage of the opportunity to do practice shooting at the Marksmanship Center air gun ranges. Both 80-point, 10-meter air gun ranges are fully equipped with electronic targets that accommodate air rifle, air pistol or National Match Air Rifle shooting. Rental equipment is available for a small fee.
