Volunteers are needed for the Eighth Annual Antique Appraisal Fair & Show Saturday, February 16, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Greeneville High School. There are now 45 vendors from two states and 18 cities registered for the event, and the Tourism Department is recruiting volunteers to help with registration, concession sales or with ticket sales on Friday, February 15, 7-9 p.m., for the new Preview Party. Input Needed On Pathways Initiative

The Workforce Education Committee (WE), comprised of representatives from local manufacturers, Walters State Community College and both city and county school systems, is seeking input on their new Pathways Initiative. The committee has developed five pathways to direct students to core curricula that will best prepare them for their chosen careers. The committee is interested in feedback on three of the pathways on which they are currently working: transportation, business/finance, and education/professional services. Tourism Heading To Nashville

Tammy Kinser will attend the Northeast Tennessee Tourism Association's Legislative Breakfast in Nashville on Wednesday, January 30. The program's focus, "Tourism Works for the Northeast Tennessee Economy," will be presented by Dr. Steve Morse, economist with the University of Tennessee. GCP Tourism is once again helping to sponsor the event which hosts our region's legislators each year to keep them informed on the impact that tourism has in our region. Lt. Governor Ron Ramsey is scheduled to attend, as well as Tourism Commissioner Susan Whitaker and several of her staff.

Bowl To Benefit Local Program

Like to bowl? Junior Achievement of Greeneville/Greene County will be hosting Super Bowl Saturday, February 2, at Olympia Lanes at 110 Mason Street in Greeneville with all contributions going to the JA programs in the five local high schools. Times for the event will be 9 to 11 a.m., 11:30 to 1:30 p.m. and 2 to 4 p.m. Lane sponsorships are available at a cost of $100, and the registration fee is $50 per team of four. Bowlers will be securing and collecting pledges, and all donations are tax deductible. The grand prize will be a large screen television, and the name of any captain whose team raises more than $1,000 will be put into a drawing for a $150 prize package. Kingdom Heirs Coming Soon

The 2013 Changing Lives Concert from the Greene County Chapter of the American Red Cross is set for March 7. The show will begin at 7 p.m. at First Baptist Church. The Kingdom Heirs, chart-topping Southern Gospel group from Dollywood, will headline the show for the fifth consecutive year. Tickets are $15 and are available at all Heritage Community Bank branches, First Baptist Church and the local Red Cross Office.
