January 25:
Ribbon Cutting - Wound Care Center at LMH

The Green Coat Ambassadors will host a ribbon cutting for the new Wound Care Center at Laughlin Memorial Hospital in Medical Office Building #2, 1406 Tusculum Blvd., at 10 a.m. on Friday, January 25.

 

 
February 12:
Membership Breakfast

Invitations will be going out soon for the February Membership Breakfast Tuesday, February 12, at 7:30 a.m. at the General Morgan Inn & Conference Center.  The cost is $3 with reservations, $8 without.  The sponsor will be Laughlin Memorial Hospital.  RSVP to 638-4111 or email gcp@greenecop.com

 

 
February 15-16:
Eighth Annual Antique Appraisal Fair & Show

Sponsorships are still available for the Eighth Annual Antique Appraisal Fair and Show February 15-16 at Greeneville High School.  Available levels are Appraiser Sponsor at $100 and Silver Sponsor at $250.  All Appraiser Sponsors will have their names listed on welcome boards that will flank the appraisers in the gymnasium, which will be highly visible to the more than 2,000 people expected to bring items in for appraisal.  All Silver Sponsors will have their names listed on all banners, as well as in all press releases.  Silver Sponsors will be offered booths at the event to promote their businesses.  For more information, email tkinser@greenecop.com.

Deadline for March Member E-Mailing

Space is available in the Partnership's March Member E-Mailing!  The deadline to submit a one-page PDF is Friday, March 1.  This is a great way to showcase your business or product to all Partnership members.  Cost is only $100.  For more information, call Lori Collins at 638-4111 or email gcp@greenecop.com.

Annual Meeting Date Announced

Mark your calendars now... The Partnership's Annual Meeting and celebration of 20 years of service to the community will be held Thursday, February 7, at the General Morgan Inn.  Invitations will be going out this week.  Sponsorship of the event is available at a cost of $275.  For more information on sponsorships, contact Vickie Andrew at the Partnership, 638-4111 or email vandrew@greenecop.com.

 

2012 Landair Ladies' Classic Results

The 2012 Landair Ladies' Classic had an economic impact of $125,000 for our community.  A portion of that impact resulted from 260 room nights at local hotels/ motels.  Congratulations to the Oakland Lady Patriots from Murfreesboro, winners of the classic!  Our sincere appreciation goes out to all the sponsors, advertisers and those who supported the tournament through attendance.  We extend our thanks to Ron Metcalfe, chairman, and his committee for the hours they dedicate to coordinating this event each year.  Great job!!! 

 

Holiday Lighting Contest Winners

Congratulations to the winners of the 2012 Greeneville Light & Power System/Keep Greene Beautiful Residential Holiday Lighting Contest:  Austin Broyles, 1400 Daisey St. for the area south of Church St.; Chuck and Diane Clark, 204 Hickory Trail for the area north of Church St.; Jerry Ewen, 55 Venice Lane for the area south of Highway 11E and east of Highway 70; Lynn and Debbie Pitt, 8390 Snapps Ferry Road, Afton, for the area east of Baileyton Road and north of Highway 11E; Willis and Mary Etta Sane, 1710 Fillers Mill Road for the area west of Highway 70 and south of Highway 11E; and Linda and Harold Daniels, 8539 Blue Springs Pkwy., Mosheim, for the area north of Highway 11E and west of Baileyton Road.  Each winner received $50 cash, courtesy of Greeneville Light & Power System.

 

Studio Nine 22 Now Open!

The Green Coat Ambassadors welcomed Studio Nine 22 at a ribbon cutting this past Friday, January 11.  Please welcome this new member at their business location at 922 Carson Street.

 

Economic Development News

$12 Million Expansion Announced

DTR Tennessee, Inc. announced a $12 million expansion last week!  The project will increase rubber-processing capabilities at the facility and will add approximately 20 jobs.  Tom Ferguson worked closely with Alicia Summers, Tennessee Department of Economic and Community Development representative, and DTR leaders to help secure machinery and equipment tax credit incentives from the State of Tennessee.  Construction work will begin by the end of this month and manufacturing is scheduled to start in January 2014.

Tourism Bags It Up At The Ladies' Classic

The Tourism Department would like to thank everyone that donated coupons and promotional items for the goody bags that were distributed to all players and coaches at the 2012 Landair Ladies' Classic.  Tammy Kinser also extends special thanks to members of the Boys & Girls Club, Darren Reese, sports editor for The Greeneville Sun, and Wendy Peay, director of United Way, for their assistance with stuffing 300 bags!

 

2013 Vacation Guides Are Here!

The 2013 Tennessee Vacation Guides are out!  Once again, Tourism and the General Morgan Inn have teamed up to place an ad in this publication that is printed in a quantity of 500,000 and is the sole fulfillment piece for all inquiries directed to the Tennessee Department of Tourist Development.  Tourism has ordered five cases of the guide for distribution, so pick up a copy and check out the cooperative ad on page 171.  Special thanks to Bob Cantler and the General Morgan Inn for once again partnering with Tourism on this project.

 

Tourism Promotes A Winning Destination

Tourism and its Sports Council are promoting "A Winning Destination" in the March/April, July/August and September/October issues of Sports Destination Management.  This magazine is written exclusively for sports event managers and tournament directors with a focus on the important issues surrounding event location decisions and event management.  The publication is sent out to more than 18,000 sports event decision makers.  To find out more about the Sports Council and its endeavors, contact Tammy Kinser at tkinser@greenecop.com
