Zero tolerance policy for fireworks this 4th of July
Please be aware that the Everest Metro Police Department (EMPD), and many Wausau Metro Area Law Enforcement Departments, will again be enforcing fireworks violations during this 4th of July Holiday period under a zero tolerance policy. Staff has been instructed that barring some exigent circumstance, all officers and deputies shall issue citations for all fireworks violations they are called to. The general rule of thumb most people understand is that "If it flies or explodes, it is illegal", and that is usually applicable. The fact that there are so many firework stores and stands legally selling fireworks prohibited by WI Statute (unless you have a permit), tends to mislead some people into thinking they are legal to possess and use since they are sold locally. For more information please visit the Wisconsin Department of Justice page on Fireworks Law Information that references statutory regulations and permits.

Online Payments now available
on Weston Website
Through a partnership with Official Payments, the Village is now able to accept online payments for utility and tax bills through its website. Official Payments will charge a convenience fee of $4.95 for utility bills and 7% of a tax payment. The village hopes to add more convenient payment options in the future. "We are currently doing some research on vendor options and point of sale solutions that will allow us to take more forms of payment whether you come to the counter or want to pay a bill from the comfort of your own home" said Nate Crowe, Director of Technology Services. As
Weston continues to add other options, those convenience fees should see a decrease. Please stay tuned to future newsletters for updates regarding additional payment options.

Crack Sealing various streets around the Village
On Monday, June 13th, Fahrner Asphalt started crack sealing various streets throughout the Village of Weston. If you encounter the crack sealing operation, please allow the workers plenty of room as their work will consist of routing existing cracks and then applying hot tar to fill the cracks. The cracks will be covered with toilet paper to help prevent vehicle tires sticking to the hot tar. Please be mindful of how close you are following the crew and refrain from making sharp turns on the freshly sealed cracks, as it may cause some tar to stick to your vehicle tires.
