Online Payments now available
on Weston Website
Through a partnership with Official Payments, the Village is now able to accept online payments for utility and tab bills through its website. Official Payments will charge a convenience fee of $4.95 for utility bills and 7% of a tax payment. The village hopes to add more convenient payment options in the future. "We are currently doing some research on vendor options and point of sale solutions that will allow us to take more forms of payment whether you come to the counter or want to pay a bill from the comfort of your own home" said Nate Crowe, Director of Technology Services. As
Weston continues to add other options, those convenience fees should see a decrease. Please stay tuned to future newsletters for updates regarding additional payment options.

Crack Sealing various streets around the Village
Starting the week of Monday June 13, Fahrner Asphalt will be crack sealing various streets throughout the Village of Weston. If you encounter the crack sealing operation, please allow the workers plenty of room as their work will consist of routing existing cracks and then applying hot tar to fill the cracks. The cracks will be covered with toilet paper to help prevent vehicle tires sticking to the hot tar. Please be mindful of how close you are following the crew and refrain from making sharp turns on the freshly sealed cracks, as it may cause some tar to stick to your vehicle tires.

Storm Debris Pick-Up
With the aftermath of Sunday's storm(6/5), staff has been out cleaning up what is along roadsides and taking care of drainage ways.
Beginning Monday 6/13, the Village will begin picking up any debris placed along the road. Pickup will be similar to spring/fall pickup which means they will only pick up tree limbs and branches 6 inches in diameter or less and no longer than 10 feet in length. All debris MUST be out by 7am on Monday 6/13. Anything larger would need to be taken on your own to the Ryan Street Yard Waste site or maybe a neighbor would like some fire wood :)

Silent Heroes
The storm that passed through Weston on Sunday, June 5, caused damage throughout Central Wisconsin. Though Weston was not particularly hard hit there were downed trees in many places with the most concentrated area of damage being in the Kellyland Subdivision area (the area bounded by Ross Avenue, Fuller Street, the Mountain Bay Trail, and Mesker Street). A downed tree on Fuller Street caused the power to be off in the Kellyland area and subdivisions to the east. At about 5:00 PM power went off for the residents in this area including power to a wastewater pumping station located at Tricia and Tanya Streets. Village Senior Utility Operator, Chad Dietsche, was serving as first responder for the utility during the weekend and quickly assessed the need for mobilizing a portable generator to power the pumping station during the power outage. Chad enlisted the assistance of Utility Foreman, John Borth, to get the generator on-site and running. The generator was in place through the night since there was no timetable for restoring power due to power outages throughout central Wisconsin. Though power was off until around 3:00 A.M. on Monday, June 6, those residents affected by the power outage did not experience any interruption of their water or sanitary sewer service - and no sewer back-ups - as a result of the power outage. Thanks to the preparation of the utility staff for events like this, the power outage was handled without incident and most of the residents affected were probably not aware that any special measures were needed to keep the (waste)water flowing.

Peyton's Promise Continues to Curb Hunger
Peyton's Promise is rolling into its 10th year in our community. Their team of 70+ Advocates, (and projecting to add an additional 25 more this spring), continue to keep pantries stocked, raise awareness about hunger and fight childhood obesity by motivating kids to make healthy choices and keep moving. This organization has worked together with our Community to collect over 300 tons of food for local pantries and pantries in 8 other states.
The Peyton's Promise Board of Directors and Advocate Board of Directors discussed ways they could to make our community a better place. One of the problems they saw was a need for more opportunities for kids to volunteer and food delivered to our lower income areas throughout the area.
They have been raising funds for a Peyton's Promise van and because of supportive businesses and organizations, they are almost there. They are so grateful to have received donations from several donations from area businesses, as well as community members and they are very close to reaching our goal of $50,000 for the purchase and wrap of the van. Peyton's Promise is so thankful to our amazing community and for the continuous support and encouragement. They are so excited to purchase this van and provide food to students in the summer, volunteer opportunities for many groups, and education about the problem of hunger to the community.
