Committee Vacancy

The Village of Weston has a vacancy in it's Community Development Authority (CDA) Committiee. The Community Development Authority consists of seven members who oversee housing and redevelopment projects in the Village of Weston. Refuse & Recycling Intern

The Village of Weston is seeking a 12-week summer Refuse and Recycling Intern

Under the general direction of the Director of Planning and Development and Planning Technician, the Refuse and Recycling Intern will assist in the implementation of proper refuse and recycling handling/disposal procedures, through the creation and dissemination of educational materials, as well as in-person compliance inspections and audit throughout the community's various new and existing commercial and private multi-family development properties

Must be knowledgeable in proper refuse and recycling handling and disposal.  This position requires a Bachelor's Degree in Soils and Waste Resources or related fields. Those currently enrolled as a Junior or Senior in good standing are encouraged to apply and will be strongly considered.

2016 Aquatic Center Season
Job Openings

The Village of Weston is currently accepting applications for Lifeguards, W.S.I. Certified lifeguards, Head lifeguards, and Slide Top/Front Desk Attendant, for the 2016 season. These seasonal positions will run from approximately the end of May through August 2016. 

Applications are available on our website, www.westonwi.gov, under the the E-Services section. Applications need to be completed by Friday, March 4th, 2016 with swim testing for new employees (lifeguards) scheduled to take place on Saturday, March 19th, 2015.

Iceberg Invite (Aspirus YMCA)
Woodson YMCA's Aspirus Natatorium will host about 600 swimmers from over 14 different YMCAs in their 3-day competition the weekend of February 19th. For more information call 715-841-1850 (Aspirus) or visit www.woodsonymca.com.

Corkscrews & Snowshoes
The YMCA's candlelit snowshoe & wine tasting is back! Come and spend a beautiful evening at Woodson YMCA Camp Sturtevant on March 5th from 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. . Come enjoy their snowshoe trails lit by luminaries around Camp and then a sampling of wines from Vino Latte, cheeses and treats! Sample a selection of red, white and dessert wines with bite-sized snacks and desserts. Adults 21+ only.

Registration is currently open at either YMCA. Your $25 registration/person supports our 2016 Community Partners Campaign funding youth scholarships and reduced fee
 memberships at Woodson YMCA.

1st Annual Daniel J. Rupar
Your involvement in the Y's Pedal it Forward event this year will also honor a dedicated Woodson YMCA leader.

Dan was a dedicated YMCA leader and friend of the Y, serving on the Woodson YMCA Board of Directors as secretary, treasurer, vice president and president. He volunteered his time as a board member on the Woodson YMCA Foundation Board, served as vice chair in the YMCA state alliance and was a past delegate to the YMCA National Assembly. He passed away on Jan. 30, 2016.

Take part in the YMCA's 2-HOUR cycling event supporting the Y's Community Partners Campaign on March 6th from 12:30 - 3:00 p.m. Come for the physical challenge and know that your dollars are building confidence in area kids through youth scholarships. Donations support cancer survivors on their path to healing in LIVESTRONG at the YMCA. And, families in need can experience a healthier lifestyle and spend quality time together at the Woodson YMCA, with your help.

EVENT DETAILS:
  • Wausau Branch South Gym- check-in opens at 11 am
  • Cycling from 12:30 pm- 2:30 pm
  • Refreshments, presentation and prize drawings following ride.
  • $50 entry fee per bike for yourself, additional $10/teammate. Riders receive event T-shirt and raffle ticket for a chance to win prizes. Pledge forms available at the Y or online.
  • Receive extra raffle ticket for every $50 dollar pledge raised!
  • Raise $250 and be recognized in our Cycling Studio on a Daniel J. Rupar Pedal it Forward banner.
  •  Individual or team with highest fundraising total will receive the Daniel J. Rupar Cup award.
Youth in Action Community Dinner
Mount Olive Church in Weston will be hosting its annual Youth in Action Community Dinner on Friday, March 11th beginning with a social at 5:30 p.m. and dinner at 6:30 p.m.

Dinner is open to the public and consists of American style Chicken & Pork, Mashed Potatoes & Gravy, Dressing, Corn & Salad, Beverage and Dessert.

Tickets are $25 and can be purchased at the Church Office. There will be raffles and a live auction after dinner. A Silent Auction will also be held March 10th-14th. All proceeds benefit the youth ministries at Mt. Olive. For more information please call 715-359-5546.
Everest Area Optimist
Basketball Skills Competition 
The Everest Area Optimist will be holding their annual Tri-Star Basketball Skills Competition on Saturday, March 12th at the D.C. Everest Middle School for ages 8-13. Registration begins at Noon and competition is from 1-2:00pm with awards to follow. FREE entry to all participants.

AARP Free Tax-Aide Preparation
The AARP Foundation is offering FREE Income Tax Preparation.  This program is intended for low to moderate income families with special consideration to those ages 60 and older. Peyton's Promise
Weston Food Drive - February
 
Thanks for the continued support from the Village of Weston Area Schools, Residents, Pick n Save, Abby Bank and Fantastic Sam's, for their tremendous effort in supporting Peyton's Promise to help the many needy families throughout the year. 

Peyton's Promise has also started an "Item of the Month" collection. The item of the month for February: Pasta/ sauce. The items can be dropped off at the Village of Weston Municipal Center (between 8:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.), Pick n Save, Fantastic Sam's, Covenant Community Presbyterian Church, or Abby Bank.
