Municipal Center closed

The Village of Weston Municipal Center will be closed Friday, November 27th. We will re-open on Monday, November 30th at 8:00 a.m.
The following meetings
will be held the week of
November 30th - December 4th 

  • Budget Workshop, Monday, November 30, 2015 at 6:00 p.m.
     
Unless stated otherwise, all meetings are held at the Village of Weston Municipal Center, 5500 Schofield Avenue.

Holiday Refuse & Recycling Schedule

The Village's garbage and recycling contractor, Advanced Disposal Services was closed on Thursday, November 26th for the Thanksgiving Holiday. Thursday's routes will be picked up on Friday the 27th and Friday's routes will be picked up on Saturday the 28th.
 
Please remember to have your garbage containers out to the end of your driveways the night before or by 6:00am on your garbage day to ensure your garbage and recycling is picked up.
Premier Sports Academy
Business PM & Ribbon Cutting

The Premier Sports Academy (8706 Progress Way, Weston) in connection with the Wausau Region Chamber of Commerce will be hosting a Business PM on Thursday, December 10th from 5:00-7:00 p.m. If you're looking for a way to grow your business then this is the place to be. Come and connect with people who will either be your next customer or help you meet your next customer. The Batting Cage, Pitching Machine, and Golf Simulator will be available to test your skills. There will also be chances to win prizes. You don't want to miss this opportunity!

Also, on Friday, December 11th starting at 2:30 p.m., there will be a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony to celebrate their Grand Opening!
Committee Vacancy

The Village of Weston has a vacancy in it's Community Development Authority (CDA) Committiee. The Community Development Authority consists of seven members who oversee housing and redevelopment projects in the Village of Weston. Ice Rink Attendants

The Village of Weston is accepting applications for ice rink attendants for the 2015-2016 ice skating season. These positions run from the middle of December through February.
 
Applications for the available positions are available at www.westonwi.gov in the E-Services section. Applications are due December 1st, 2015.

Job Opening
Municipal Maintenance Worker/Operator

The Village of Weston is seeking a fulltime Utility Maintenance Worker/Operator. The Utility Maintenance Worker/Operator will perform operation and maintenance functions on the water and wastewater physical plant.  The work shall generally include a variety of skilled and semi-skilled tasks, related to the operation of the wells, reservoirs, booster pumps, chemical feed equipment, water storage tanks, lift stations, water distribution system and wastewater collection system.

Just a reminder to Weston residents, please make sure you are recycling the correct items in your 95 gallon cart (the yellow cover cart). For more information, or if you are unsure of what items can be recycled, please watch the video below. Troop 462
Yellowbanks Projects

On Saturday, November 7th a group of scout's and adult volunteers from Troop 462 worked on three different projects at the Yellowbanks Disc Golf Course.

Under the direction of Grant Werner who submitted the project as his Eagle Scout Service Project this group was able to remove brush in an area to allow future course expansion, install terraced walls to deal with an erosion problem and install steps to access additional disc golf holes. The Village of Weston would like to thank everyone that was involved in this project for their assistance in the development and enhancement of this popular recreation area.

Community Christmas Fun Day
Come be a part of Dale's Weston Lanes Annual "Community Christmas" being held on Sunday, December 6th from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Cost is $5/person with a non-perishable item which includes 2 games of bowling, shoe rental, hot dog, chips, cookie, movie on the lanes, crafts, face painting and more.

United Way's 2-1-1 is a dialing code for FREE confidential access to non-emergency health and human services information and referral. They are there to help answer questions and connect you to services 24 hours a day 7 days a week, whether you need information regarding financial assistant, unemployment, services for youth or elderly, or support groups (or a variety of other services.

Toys-for-Tots

Cutie Pie Photo Studio in Weston (corner of Camp Phillips and Schofield Ave) and Toys For Tots are working together for the month of November to collect new, unwrapped toys and distribute them as Christmas gifts to needy children in the community. Customers will receive a FREE photo session when they donate a toy for Toys For Tots. So go to Cutie Pie Photo Studio and help those families in need.



Sam's Pizza (5811 Bus. Hwy 51 - Weston) and the U.S Marine Corps Reserve "Toys For Tots" Foundation have teamed up to help local children and families in need. Bring in a "New" unwrapped toy ($10 minimum value) and get a FREE 14" 1 topping pizza from Sam's Pizza now thru December 14th.
Kidz Closet
Holiday Donations 
Beginning with their Black Friday sale (11/27) and continuing through 12/16/15 Kidz Closet will be collecting for various non-profits with needs they have been made aware of. Items being collected are NEW socks, underwear, toiletries, unwrapped toys, stuffed animals, puzzle books, and fleece tied blankets. 

Kidz Closetis also excepting food donations for Covenant Community Presbyterian Church Christmas Dinner drive.  All food must be dropped off at Kidz Closet or the Church on or before 12/8/15.

AbbyBank has Christmas Trees in their lobbies that are decorated with Angels representing anonymous local children in need. Select an Angel and take it to a teller to learn about the child (age, gender, needs, interests).  Then return the Angel along with your present to an AbbyBank location by December 11th
Fill the Bus- 
to feed the Hungry in our Community 
The Renaissance Assisted Living and Rennes Health Center are showing their community pride and support through the holidays. They are determined to fill one of their transportation buses with non-perishable food items between November 25th and December 25th. The bus will be bannered and placed in front of their facility before November 25th as we build up community support and excitement.

Do your kids enjoy having fun? Greenheck Field House is now offering their Bounce Houses every Wednesday from 6-8pm in the gymnasium! Cost is just $5.00. Children ages 6 and under need to be accompanied by an adult. Also, check out their updated concession stand!

AARP Tax-Aide is in need of volunteers to staff the call center to schedule tax preparation appointments.

Thanks for the continued support from the Village of Weston Area Schools, Residents, Pick n Save, Abby Bank and Fantastic Sam's, for their tremendous effort in supporting Peyton's Promise to help the many needy families throughout the year. 

Peyton's Promise has also started an "Item of the Month" collection. The item of the month for November: Boxed Meals The items can be dropped off at the Village of Weston Municipal Center (between 8:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.), Pick n Save, Fantastic Sam's, Covenant Community Presbyterian Church, or Abby Bank.
