Unless stated otherwise, all meetings are held at the Village of Weston Municipal Center, 5500 Schofield Avenue.

BUILDING INSPECTOR 
OUT OF THE OFFICE (9/18 - 9/25)
Reminder: The Building Inspector, Scott Tatro, will be out of the office until Friday, September 25th attending a conference.  He will be available again for inspections on Monday, September 28th.
VACANT COMMITTEE MEMBER POSITION
The Village of Weston is looking for a Weston resident to fill a vacancy on the Village's Parks and Recreation Committee. The committee meets monthly or as necessary. Citizen Committee members earn a $40 stipend per attended meeting (paid out at the end of the year). MUNICIPAL CENTER OFFICES CLOSED
The Village of Weston Municipal Center will be closed to the public on Monday, October 12th. We will re-open on Tuesday, October 13th at 8:00 a.m.
JOB OPENING
DEPUTY FINANCE DIRECTOR
The Village of Weston, Marathon County, WI, pop. 15,276 is seeking a full-time Deputy Finance Director. 

Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance or related field, and five (5) years of experience in financial analysis, governmental accounting and computer software and graphics or an equivalent combination of experience and education which will result in the necessary skills and knowledge to perform the job. Certifications including CPA, CGFO or CPFO are also desirable. 

The Deputy Finance Director will assist the Finance Director with specific accounting functions, debt and treasury management, financial analysts' activities, budgeting functions, financial reporting and the annual audit. Salary range is $51,293 to $58,635 annually, with a maximum salary of $70,354, plus benefits.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR SERVICE
The Village would like to thank Joe Abt for his years of service to the Village as a member of the Parks and Rec Committee.  This past month Joe resigned due to an increase time commitment in his professional career. Joe was a graduate of the Village's inaugural Future Weston Academy in 2008 and served as an ex-officio on the Parks and Rec Committee until his official appointment in 2009. His dedication and contribution will be greatly missed. 
THANK YOU DANNY'S GYROS
The Village would like to thank Toni Case from the Danny's Gyros Food Truck for her monetary donation to the Village of Weston Farmer's Market.  This is Danny's first year with the Market and we are very excited to have them.  The Weston Farmer's Market is located on the corner of Camp Phillips and Schofield Avenue next to Dunkin' Donuts and is open on Saturday's from 8:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m. (or sold out) and on Tuesday's from 10:00 a.m.-6:00 p.m. (or sold out).  So, be sure to stop in and try one of her a delicious gyros and see everything the Market has to offer.

FARMER'S MARKET

The Village of Weston's Farmer's Market is officially Open at their NEW location on the corner of Camp Phillips Rd. and Schofield Ave. They will be open every Saturday from
8:00-2:00 p.m. and every Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m.
FALL WATER MAIN FLUSHING
The Village of Weston Water Utility will be flushing the water mains and fire hydrants beginning September 21 thru October 27, 2015. Water mains will be flushed between 8:00 AM and 3:00 PM on these dates.

You may notice that your water has a reddish color or tint during or following the flushing. This discoloration should be eliminated shortly after you have run water through your own service line. If the discoloration persists, please contact our office.

Those with sensitive water needs should draw water before the hours of flushing to reduce the chance of discolored water. White laundry should not be washed while the mains are being flushed in your area. You may also notice a change in water pressure while hydrants are flushed in your area. If you have any questions or concerns please call our office at 715-359-2876.

VILLAGE OF WESTON
HOUSING SURVEY
The Village of Weston is currently in the process of updating the Comprehensive Plan, which a vision and guide for the future growth and development of the community. This Plan is required to be updated every 10 years by the State of Wisconsin to ensure that the community is headed in the right direction. The first Comprehensive Plan was adopted in 2006 through a collaborative effort with the County and other Metro municipalities. There are 9 required elements for the Plan, which are: Issues and Opportunities, Housing, Transportation, Utilities and Community Facilities, Agriculture, Natural and Cultural Resources, Economic Development, Intergovernmental Cooperation, Land Use and Implementation. At this time, the Village is working on a draft of the Housing Element and is interested in seeking out residents' opinions and views regarding the quality of housing and neighborhoods throughout the Village. "VOICES FROM THE PAST: A DISCOVERY WALK THROUGH PINE GROVE CEMETERY" 
Join the Marathon County Historical Society as they conduct their "Voices From The Past: A Discovery Walk Through Pine Grove Cemetery" tour on Sunday, September 27, 2015

This year's focus will be on World War I.  The tours will run continuously beginning at 11:00 a.m. with the last tour starting at 2:00 p.m.  The Discovery Walk will be held at 1501 Grand Avenue, Wausau. BOOK SALE
MARATHON COUNTY PUBLIC LIBRARY
The friends of Marathon County Public Library (300 N. First Street, Wausau) are hosting a book sale October 2nd & 3rd from 9:30am to 4:30pm and a special "Bag Sale" ($6 per bag) October 4th from 1:00-4:00pm. There will be new and gently used books, paperbacks, puzzles, software, videos, CD's, audio books and record albums! Proceeds from book sales go to support library programs and help purchase library materials and equipment.

Caregiving Pathways is a coalition of organizations for the support of caregivers- organized with the help and support of the ADRC in a tri-county area. They will be hosing a presentation about the wonderful resources within our area on Thursday, October 8th from 1:00 - 3:00 p.m. at the Hatley Public Library Community Room (435 Curtis Ave., Hatley).

United Way's 2-1-1 is a dialing code for FREE confidential access to non-emergency health and human services information and referral. They are there to help answer questions and connect you to services 24 hours a day 7 days a week, whether you need information regarding financial assistant, unemployment, services for youth or elderly, or support groups (or a variety of other services.

Peyton's Promise has also started an "Item of the Month" collection. The item of the month for September: Rice and Granola Bars. The items can be dropped off at the Village of Weston Municipal Center (between 8:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.), Pick n Save, Fantastic Sam's, Covenant Community Presbyterian Church, or Abby Bank.
