  • Community Development Authority (CDA) meeting Monday, August 10, 2015 at 4:30 p.m
     
  • Plan Commission meeting, Monday, August 10, 2015 at 6:00 p.m.
  • S.A.F.E.R Board of Directors meeting, Tuesday, August 11, 2015 at 6:00 p.m. at the Rib Mountain Municipal Center (3700 North Mountain Rd., Wausau)

Unless stated otherwise, all meetings are held at the Village of Weston Municipal Center, 5500 Schofield Avenue.

WESTON V-CHAT 
The Village of Weston has started creating informational videos called Weston V-Chat. During the next year we will be posting several short videos to communicate preferred procedures and practices for your services. Services like Spring and Fall Yard Materials Pick-up, the wheres and whys for snow removal process, proper yard maintenance, etc. Please view the video below.

FARMER'S MARKET

The Village of Weston's Farmer's Market is officially Open at their NEW location on the corner of Camp Phillips Rd. and Schofield Ave. They will be open every Saturday from 8:00-2:00 p.m. and every Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m.

THE WISCONSIN VALLEY FAIR

The Annual Wisconsin Valley Fair is going on August 4th - August 9th! Six days of excitement. Headlining entertainment in the grandstand nightly. A variety of national musical acts and a demolition derby! Carnival rides, commercial exhibits. Thousands of youth exhibits. Fun for the whole family. Great food, great entertainment, great time! Tickets on sale now!

STOCK UP ON CEREAL
PEYTON'S PROMISE IS AT THE FAIR 

The Wisconsin Valley Fair and Peyton's Promise have teamed up to make our community a better place! Please help make a difference by stocking the shelves of our local pantries. Bring 1 box of Cereal to the fair, August 4th - August 9th, and you will receive a coupon book to use while you are at the Fair.


Peyton's Promise has collected over 200 tons of food and thousands of dollars in Grants, donations and scholarships for local pantries in Central Wisconsin and throughout the United States.

 

Also, join Petyon's Promise at the "Smash Out Hunger" at the Demolition Derby on Sunday, August 9th. They are collecting cereal and selling 50/50 tickets! Tickets are $5 for adults, $2 for kids (4-10 years of age), and 3 years & younger are free! Pre-Sale tickets are available at the Fair Office, CoVantage Credit Union or Online at www.wisconsinvalleyfair.com

TEEN SWIM / DANCE NIGHT

The Weston Aquatic Center will be hosting the summer's last Teen Swim and Dance Night on Friday, August 7th from 7:00 p.m -10:00 p.m. All 7th thru 12th grade students are welcome to attend. Admission is $2. There will be music, food specials and product and prize give-a-ways. 

 

Due to the weather, Teen Night will be decided mid-afternoon today. Please check the Weston Aquatic Center Facebook page later today for the final decision.

KIDS CLUB
ACE HARDWARE

Join ACE in Weston on August 8th from 10:00am to 1:00pm as they make noodle boats this month! Fun kids activities for ages up to 13 yrs.

FARMERS MARKET ENTERTAINMENT

Be sure to stop down at the Farmer's Market on Saturday, August 8th where Heavenly Vibes will be performing from 10am -Noon. Members Joe Finnegan (vibraphone) and Zachary Finnegan (trumpet) will be playing patriotic music, music from movies, jazz, religious, and rock music for your enjoyment. Listen to the music as you shop or sit back and relax on one of the picnic tables or benches.

FARMERS MARKET ENTERTAINMENT

Enjoy live entertainment at the Farmer's Market on Saturday, August 15th. Chad Brecke from String Cheese will be playing a variety of music from 10:00am-Noon. Be sure to stop down and see all the exciting things the Farmer's Market has to offer. Located on the Corner of Camp Phillips Rd and Schofield Ave next to Dunkin' Donuts. 

WAUSAU MARATHON

Come be part of third annual Wausau Marathon, Half Marathon, 5K and Kid's Fun Run on August 22rd. The race starts and finishes in Marathon Park in Wausau.

 

Marathon starts at 7am, Half Marathon starts at 7:15am, 5K starts at 7:30am and the Kids Fun Run starts at 8:30am. Medals awarded in various classes. The marathon course has been certified by USA Track & Field. This makes the 26.2 mile course distance official and enables the event to be used as a qualifier for the Boston Marathon. 

Running not your thing? The Marathon course runs through Weston.  Head on out to the route and cheer the runners on or better yet....volunteer to help.  Volunteers are needed to cover intersections throughout the area and will receive a FREE t-shirt.  Please contact Scott Liegl at 715-355-8788.  For more information go to the Wausau Marathon Website.

BIKE FOR HONOR FLIGHT 2015

 Never Forgotten Honor Flight: Join their mission to fly veterans to Washington DC to visit the memorials that stand in their honor.

 

**Choose your Distance** On August 23rd, take part in the Bike for Honor Flight 2015. Proceeds will benefit Never Forgotten Honor Flight. There will be a 50 mile ride starting at 8:00am, 20 mile ride starting at 10:00am, and a fun ride (5-6 miles) starting at 11:00am.

 

Entry fees: $25 per rider (15 & under free with paid adult rider; 15 & under t-shirt would be $10/per pre-registered rider.

TED'S TREK

After seven years of promoting organ donation awareness through their annual 'Race 4 Life' Scavenger Hunt, NCWDL decided it was time for a change . . .Get ready for Ted's Trek, a 5k Glow Run/Walk to be held at Mountain Bay Banquet and Conference Center (Dale's Weston Lanes) in Weston, WI on Friday evening, August 28, 2015
 

Entry Fee includes T-Shirt and Glow Items.  Don't miss the best after party in the area!  Stay for the free live band after the race - TAXI.  Public Welcome - No cover charge.

 

Early packet pick-up for pre-registered participants will be Thursday, 8/27 from 6 pm to 8 pm at Dale's Weston Lanes.

 

Additional Glow Items are available for sale at the event.

United Way's 2-1-1 is a dialing code for FREE confidential access to non-emergency health and human services information and referral. They are there to help answer questions and connect you to services 24 hours a day 7 days a week, whether you need information regarding financial assistant, unemployment, services for youth or elderly, or support groups (or a variety of other services.

ROLLING READERS PROGRAM
PROVIDES BOOKS AND FOOD

The DC Everest Area School District, Ministry St. Clare's, and DC Everest Blessings in a Backpack, partnered together this summer in the Rolling Readers program which provided kids with FREE books and nutritious meals and snacks. There were about 80 kids who visited the Rolling Readers Van to check out books and get a bag of food each week.
 

The Rolling Readers schedule is as follows: Mondays, 12:00-12:45 p.m. at Colonial Gardens; Tuesdays, 12:00-12:45 p.m. at Stillwater Landing; Wednesdays, 12:00-12:45 p.m. at Aspen Street Apartments/ Northern Housing Community; and Thursdays,12:00-12:45 p.m. at Weston Pines Apartments all in Weston.

WESTON FOOD DRIVE - AUGUST
Thanks for the continued support from the Village of Weston Area Schools, Residents, Pick n Save, Abby Bank and Fantastic Sam's, for their tremendous effort in supporting Peyton's Promise to help the many needy families throughout the year. 


Peyton's Promise has also started an "Item of the Month" collection. The item of the month for August: Toothpaste and Deodorant. The items can be dropped off at the Village of Weston Municipal Center (between 8:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.), Pick n Save, Fantastic Sam's, Covenant Community Presbyterian Church, or Abby Bank.
