WELCOME NEW EMPLOYEES

The Village of Weston is pleased to announce that Sarah Flory has joined our staff as a part-time Office Assistant. She began her journey with us on June 2, 2015. As the Office Assistant, Sarah's responsibilities will include telephone and front counter receptionist, payment processing, license and permit processing, and many other administrative job duties as required. Sarah comes to the Village with more than 10 years of office experience. We believe she will be a valuable addition to our village team. WELCOME ABOARD SARAH!

The Village of Weston and the Everest Metro Police Department would like to welcome new Police Officer, Abby Krautkramer to the Everest Metro Police Department.

Abby grew up in the rural City of Marathon school district, but has been working for the past 8 years for the St Croix Sheriff's Department. She graduated from the UW-River Falls with a Bachelor Degree in Sociology, and a minor in Criminal Justice. At 31 years of age, she felt it was time to return to her roots, and moved back to the area. Abby is a tremendous addition to the department, as she is a skilled investigator, and all around good officer. Her years of experience have already shown as she has launched her new career with EMPD. On a personal note, Abby loves the outdoors and any kind of activity that embraces nature: hunting, fishing, and of course, the Green Bay Packers. She has said of herself that she is more at home in jeans and cowboy boots than fancy dress clothes, and has quickly become part of the Everest Metro family.

The Village of Weston and South Area Fire and Response District (SAFER) would like to congratulate Marty Christiansen on this new position as the Fire Inspector for SAFER.

Marty was a Volunteer Fire Fighter EMT with Schofield Fire Department from 2000- 2014. In 2006, he started as a Volunteer Fire Fighter EMT with Weston Fire Department and was hired full time in April 2007 as a Fire Fighter EMT-I, until Weston and Rib Mountain formed the South Area Fire and Emergency Response District. Marty served on the S.A.F.E.R department as a Captain reporting to calls, doing inter facility transfers, and working on shift as scheduled. In April 2015 SAFER added a Fire Inspector and he was hired full time to inspect buildings to locate hazardous conditions and fire code violations such as accumulations of combustible material, electrical wiring problems, and inadequate or non-functional fire exits, as well as a variety of other tasks. Marty is also a member of the Marathon County Special Teams, an adjunct instructor for North Central Technical College a member of the Wisconsin Fire Fighter Association, and the Wisconsin EMS association.

The Village and Town of Weston would like to welcome Dawn Walstrom to the Town of Weston as the new Town Clerk. Dawn is currently a Town of Weston resident with her husband Tood, but grew up in the Village of Weston. She graduated from D.C Everest High School, raised two daughters and has 4 grandchildren.

Dawn received an associate's degree in Accounting from North Central Technical College and received her bachelor's degree in Accounting from Upper Iowa University. She has held various financial positions in retail, church and business environments and currently works for United Healthcare in a Finance/Operations role.

Dawn enjoys spending weekends up north, boating and snowmobiling. She also loves to read, enjoys golfing and spending time with her family.

FARMER'S MARKET

The Village of Weston's Farmer's Market is officially Open at their NEW location on the corner of Camp Phillips Rd. and Schofield Ave. They will be open every Saturday from 8:00-2:00 p.m. and every Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m.

AQUATIC CENTER RECOGNITION

The Village of Weston recognized Weston Aquatic Center staff for their role in a lifesaving event that took place in 2014. On August 10, 2014, there was a near drowning incident at the Weston Aquatic Center. A young patron ended up in 4 feet of water and could not swim. Thankfully, due to a lifeguard's alertness and training, the lifeguard was immediately able to recognize the situation and react accordingly.

The recognition took place at the Weston Aquatic Center on Saturday, June 6th at 10:00 a.m., before opening up the Center for the season to the public. Management felt it was important to recognize those individuals that were able to take a potential tragic situation and turn it into nothing more than a learning experience. Several Trustees and Committee members, as well as other Village staff were on hand to show their support for the Aquatic Center Staff. Weston Aquatic Center staff is continually training to make sure that everyone's visit to the facility can be remembered as a positive experience.
