If you are not sure if a building permit is needed for your home improvement project, please feel free to call the Village Municipal Center at 359-6114 and a Village staff member will assist you in determining if your home improvement project requires a building permit.  Building permit applications can be easily picked up at the Village Municipal Center during normal business hours, 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday - Friday, or can be accessed on the Village's website at http://westonwi.gov/384/Applications-and-Permits.

BUILD A RAIN BARREL WORKSHOP
JUNE 30TH

Learn how a rain barrel can help conserve water and keep our lakes & streams clean, at an upcoming workshop on June 30th from 6:00pm - 8:00pm. Then build a barrel to take home. Rain barrels are used to collect rain that drains from your roof and runs down the gutters. A quarter-inch of rain falling on the average home yields a little over 200 gallons of water, and can fill a barrel in a matter of minutes. This water can then be used to water plants and gardens. This water would normally run across our lawns and driveways into the storm drains. Along the way, this water picks up fertilizers, oil, and other pollutants. This water is not treated before it runs directly into our lakes and streams. The workshop is brought to you by the North Central Wisconsin Stormwater Coalition and the University of Wisconsin-Extension. Seating is limited to 20 people. To register, mail $30 (check made out to UW-Extension) to: Marathon County UW-Extension (Rain Barrel Workshop) 212 River Dr., Suite #3 Wausau, WI 54403. The event will take place at the Weston Municipal Center Board Room (5500 Schofield Ave., Weston).
