A Snapshot of What's Happening in Weston!
WATER SERVICE INTERUPTION & FROZEN PIPES IN WESTON - TAKE PRECAUTION
Some residents in the Village of Weston were recently sent a letter with specific instructions to keep a faucet running 24/7. They were asked to keep a pencil sized stream (about ") running at all times until further notice.

Otherwise, if you were NOT sent a letter we advise you to run your cold water at a full stream at least 2 times a day for 5 minutes each time for precaution until further notice. If you have any questions you can contact our 24 hour Utility line at 715-359-2876. Thank you!

INTRODUCING SINGLE-STREAM RECYCLING

The week of January 6, 2014 the Village of Weston and Town of Weston began implementation of a new Single-Stream Recycling collection program.

The 95-gallon cart that was delivered to every household in the Village of Weston & the Town of Weston (single-family up to 4 unit apartments) is the new recycling cart. This cart is ONLY for recyclable items (plastic, glass, aluminum, tin, metal, mixed paper and cardboard).

This 95-gallon recycling cart will appear the same as your refuse (garbage) cart, EXCEPT that the recycling cart has a bright yellow lid with the recycling symbol, along with some simple recycling instructions, printed on the lid.

The In's & Out's of Weston's New Single Stream Recycling Program
The In's & Out's of Weston's New Single Stream Recycling Program

What are the advantages to Single-Stream Recycling?

  • Easy for the Customer
  • Cleaner for the Neighborhood
  • The carts are easy to use
  • The carts hold a lot
  • Safer for workers
  • Promotes Recycling
  • Communities Love It!!

PLUS... with more people recycling, we save on landfill costs, which will help reduced the costs to the Taxpayer!

NOW WHAT TO DO WITH THOSE OLD RECYCLING BINS

  • Use them to neatly store away seasonal house hold items
  • Give them to a neighbor who would have a use for them
  • Donate them to Good Will (www.goodwillncw.org)
  • Donate them to Peyton's Promise (www.peytonspromise.org)
  • Sell or give away your container through Craig's List (www.wausau.craigslist.org)
  • If your bins are in bad shape and you simply want to dispose of them, you can take them directly to Advance Disposal Services. They can be placed in the plastics recycling bin at the Recycling Center at 5509 Fuller Street.

FINALLY...your Refuse and Recycling collection dates and times will remain the same as they have been in the past.

Residents began using them the week of January 6th on their garbage day. Remember these new carts are also being picked up by the claw on the recycling truck. Residents need to leave space between the new carts for ease of pickup and so the carts are not damaged. The best placement for your refuse and recycling carts is at either side of your driveway. Check out our Refuse & Recycling page on our website to see some examples of "how to" and "how not to" place your refuse and recycling carts. Improper placement could result in damage to your cart or mailbox from the garbage and recycling trucks claw.

If you still have questions, please feel free to visit our Refuse and Recycling webpage.
