A Snapshot of What's Happening in Weston!
VILLAGE OFFICES CLOSED NOVEMBER 28 & 29 FOR THANKSGIVING
The Village Municipal Center will be closed Thursday, November 28th and Friday, November 29th for the Thanksgiving Holiday. Our offices will reopen on Monday, December 2nd at 7:30 am. We wish you all a safe and Happy Thanksgiving with family and friends.
THANKSGIVING HOLIDAY GARBAGE SCHEDULE

The Village's garbage and recycling contractor, Advanced Disposal Services, will be closed Thursday, November 28th for the Thanksgiving Holiday. Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday garbage & recycling routes in the Town and Village of Weston will be picked up as normal. Thursday's routes will be picked up on Friday. Friday's routes will be picked up on Saturday.

 

Please make sure to remember to have your garbage containers out to the end of your driveways the night before or by 6am on your garbage day to ensure your garbage and recycling is picked up.

PUBLIC HEARING ON PROPOSED 2014 BUDGET SET FOR MONDAY, DECEMBER 2ND AT 6PM

Notice is hereby given pursuant to Wisconsin Statutes that a Public Hearing is scheduled for Monday, December 2, 2013 at 6:00 pm at the Weston Municipal Center on the VILLAGE OF WESTON PROPOSED 2014 OPERATING BUDGET. Village of Weston citizens and taxpayers shall have the opportunity to be heard on the proposed budget.

 

Proposed Budgets are available for inspection at the Village of Weston Municipal Center, 5500 Schofield Avenue, from 7:30 am to 5:00 pm Monday through Friday or on the Budget page of the Village website.

DOWNLOAD & USE THE NEW SMARTPHONE APP TO HELP WESTON & LINKWISCONSIN'S BROADBAND MAPPING EFFORTS

The Wisconsin State Cartographer's Office and the Department of Administration Division of Intergovernmental Relations are teaming to enhance LinkWISCONSIN's broadband mapping efforts. Their work will add address and parcel information which will add additional functionality to the state broadband map.

LinkWISCONSIN hopes you will join the effort by simply downloading the free network testing app on your smart phone or tablet to ensure your neighborhood is tested. You can find the app in the Apple Store and in Google Play by searching for "linkwisconsin". The more we can learn about problematic network areas, the better we are able to address them.

Notice is hereby given that an election is to be held in the Village of Weston, on Tuesday, April 1, 2014, the following offices are to be elected to succeed the present incumbents listed. The term for Village President and Village Trustee will begin on Tuesday, April 15, 2014. The term for all other offices begins on May 1, 2014. All terms are for two years unless otherwise indicated.

FALL YARD MATERIALS PICK-UP

This year's Fall Yard Materials Pick-up started on Monday, October 14, 2013!

 

The Fall Materials Pick-up is now in its 6th full week. As of Thursday, November 21, the 2nd, and FINAL, leaf pick-up effort has been completed in the MONDAY THROUGH THURSDAY refuse collection areas. The 2nd, and final, leaf pick-up in the FRIDAY area is now in progress.

LOCAL SERVER HOLDING COAT DRIVE AND MORE
Terry Blumberg, a server at Chang Garden in Weston and Mickey's Bar & Grill in Schofield, is collecting winter coats (and other cold weather attire) to donate to the Neighbor's Place (a food pantry and community resource center). He has also made the challenge that for every piece of clothing that is donated he is donating $1.50 of his own money to help this cause. Coats and apparel can be dropped off at Chang Garden (4215 Barbican Ave - Weston/102 Jefferson St - Wausau) or at Mickey's Bar & Grill (1239 Schofield Ave - Schofield Ave - Schofield).
ANNUAL HOLIDAY PARADE

DECEMBER 6TH

Parade begins at 6:30pm
Parade Route: Marathon Park to The 400 Block, Wausau

Families have been making it an annual tradition for decades. Bundle the family up and join us for one of Wausau's longest running traditions, the annual holiday parade. Whip on your scarf; wrap your hands around a steaming cup of hot chocolate, and witness the snow-covered streets get taken over with beautiful floats. After the parade make your way to the Great Hall for free cookies, hot chocolate, music from the Wausau Symphonic Band, and a visit from Santa Claus. Together we'll have the hap-hap-happiest holiday since Bing Crosby tap-danced with Danny Kaye.
3RD ANNUAL ANGELS AMOUNG US

The Foundation of Ministry Saint Clare's Hospital in Weston is ready to ring in the holiday season with the Angels Among Us Holiday Lighting Festival.

 

The fun-filled family event will be held on Saturday, December 14, from 4-7p.m., at the Rothschild Pavilion. A special tree lighting ceremony will take place at 5:30 p.m.

 

Featured activities include visits and photos with Santa and Mrs. Claus, children's craft's, classic holiday movies, story-time, milk & cookies, holiday music performances from area schools, the opportunity to purchase limited-edition Angels of Gratitude ornaments and enjoy food from Red Eye Brewing Company.

 

Additionally, there will be several fundraising raffles with prizes including jewelry, iPads, American Girl dolls, A Wisconsin Dells Vacation Package, wine baskets and more.

MINISTRY SAINT CLARE'S REACCREDITED AS CHEST PAIN CENTER

Ministry Saint Clare's Hospital in Weston has received full Chest Pain Center accreditation with PCI from the Society of Cardiovascular Patient Care (SCPC).

MINISTRY MEDICAL GROUP SPORTS PHYSICAL PROGRAM PROVIDES NEARLY $3,000 TO AREA SCHOOLS

Another season of WIAA Sports Physicals is in the books at Ministry Medical Group Clinic's in Rib Mountain, Weston and Merrill.

 

Each year, Ministry Medial Group provides pre-participation sports physicals for $25 in the months of June, July and August for students entering grades six through twelve. As a part of the program, all proceeds are donated to the athletic department of each participant's school.
