FALL YARD MATERIALS PICK-UP
|
|
This year's Fall Yard Materials Pick-up started on Monday, October 14, 2013!
Residents are to place un-bagged leaves, thatch, grass, clippings, pine needles and brush less than six (6) inches in diameter, on the road shoulder or at the curb. If you have curb and gutter please place yard waste in the curb line. Please keep piles away from storm sewer inlets to minimize the chances of causing drainage problems. Also keep piles away from power poles, mailboxes, landscaping, fire hydrants, or anything else that may impede the pickup process. Brush is to be kept SEPARATE from yard material and placed at roadside with stump ends of limbs placed in same direction, parallel to road. Brush Pickup is a separate operation and may not occur at the same time as leaf pickup. If yard material cannot be reached by the Village's machines it will then be the responsibility of the resident to dispose of the yard material.
The leaf/yard waste operation progresses through the Village following the sequence of the weekly garbage pick-up routes; i.e., Monday 1st, Tuesday 2nd,, etc. However, due to the volume of material it normally takes more than one day to pick up material in most areas. As of Friday, October 25, the operations staff is collecting materials in the Friday refuse collection areas and this is expected to carry over to the week of October 28. The 2nd and final pass through the Village will begin once the Friday area has been completed. Since, collection time is unpredictable due to unknown material volume, please plan to have your materials out by Monday, October 28, in all areas of the Village. We will provide updates of the progress of the final pass through the Village.
After the roadside collection has been completed, leaves and all aforementioned items can be brought to the Village's yard waste site (free of charge) located at 8200 Ryan Street (1/4 mile south of Weston Avenue on the west side). When bringing items to the yard material site, please remove leaves from bags and dispose of the bags in the provided container.

S.A.F.E.R NEWS RELEASE - S.A.F.E.R DISTRICT TO START ACCEPTING POSITION APPLICATIONS
|
|
Weston, WI - The new SAFER District, along with the Village of Weston, has launched a new software system for their hiring process. Beginning Friday, October 18th interested candidates can apply for current vacancies or sign up for new openings that become available at http://www.westonwi.gov/jobs.
The Village of Weston and the SAFER District partnered with NEOGOV, the nation's largest cloud software for HR in government and education. Using this technology, HR and department managers can access online records to expedite hiring and provide greater accountability when selecting new employees.
This new software streamlines the job search and application process for job seekers. Instead of applying for multiple job openings at once, candidates can submit multiple applications all electronically.
The new system also allows hiring managers to more effectively create minimum qualifications to sort through a pool of applicants. With the new system, administrative work and technical maintenance costs are reduced as this workload is handled by the NEOGOV system.
The Village of Weston and the SAFER District now join over 1000 organizations across the nation which have moved into cutting edge online technology for personnel management.

PLATINUM AWARD RECOGNIZES MINISTRY FACILITIES FOR HEART ATTACK CARE
|
|
The two advanced surgical centers for the Marshfield Clinic and Ministry Health Care heart care team have received the American
College of Cardiology Foundation's NCDR® ACTION Registry®-GWTGTM Platinum Performance Achievement Award.
Ministry Saint Joseph's Hospital, Marshfield and Ministry Saint Clare's Hospital, Weston are two of 197 hospitals nationwide to receive the Platinum Award for implementing the highest standard of care for heart attack patients. It's the second straight year each facility has received the Platinum Award.
To receive the ACTION Registry-GWTG Platinum Performance Achievement Award, Ministry Saint Joseph's and Ministry Saint Clare's consistently followed the treatment guidelines in the ACTION Registry-GWTG Premier for 8 consecutive quarters and met a performance standard of 90% for specific performance measures.
"The American College of Cardiology Foundation and the American Heart Association commend the Marshfield Clinic and Ministry Health Care heart care team for its success in implementing standards of care and protocols. The full implementation of acute and secondary prevention guideline-recommended therapy is a critical step in saving the lives and improving outcomes of heart attack patients," stated James Jollis, MD, FACC, ACTION Registry-GWTG Chair and Professor of Medicine and Radiology at Duke University Hospital and Deepak L. Bhatt, MD, MPH, FACC, FAHA, ACTION Registry-GWTG Co-Chair and Chief of Cardiology at VA Boston Healthcare System, Senior Physician at Brigham and Women's Hospital, and Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School.
The American Heart Association estimates that each year, nearly 300,000 people in the United States will have a STEMI, or ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction, the most severe form of heart attack. A STEMI occurs when a blood clot completely blocks an artery to the heart. To prevent death, it's critical to immediately restore blood flow, either by surgically opening the blocked vessel or by giving clot-busting medication.
"ACTION Registry-GWTG is designed to improve the quality of cardiovascular care and our physicians and staff members have responded to the benefit of our patients and the communities we serve, said Dr. Richard Reinhart, Joint Heart Care Team medical director. "This award recognizes a significant achievement and priority as the number of acute myocardial infarction patients eligible for treatment is expected to grow over the next decade due to increasing incidence of heart disease and a large aging population."
Following the ACTION Registry-GWTG treatment guidelines improves adherence to ACC/AHA Clinical Guideline recommendations, monitors drug safety and the overall quality of care provided to ST-elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) and non- ST- elevation myocardial infarction patients (NSTEMI).
