VILLAGE ADOPTS NEW DANGEROUS ANIMAL ORDINANCE
nullThe Village Board recently approved a new Dangerous Animal Ordinance (Chapter 10, Article II) to replace the existing Dangerous Dog ordinance the Village previously had in place. The new ordinance specifically addresses prohibited dangerous animals. This amendment means that no person may bring into or keep within the village limits, any animal that is determined to be a "prohibited dangerous animal." Additionally, the amendment gives authority to the chief of police or the chief's designee to declare if an animal is dangerous. The new ordinance is similar to one recently adopted by the City of Wausau. The full text of the ordinance can be found online at the above link.

PUBLIC FIRE PROTECTION FEE
In an effort to keep the property tax rate steady, the Village has determined that it can no longer afford to subsidize the Weston Water Utility's public fire protection charges, which are those costs which are accrued by the water utility to furnish water for fighting fires. Instead of subsidizing this expense with property tax dollars, the Village is returning these charges, in their entirety, back to the water utility. Further information regarding the charge and how it affects your water utility bill can be found by clicking HERE. You may also contact the Village at 715-359-2876.

 LITTLE FREE LIBRARY
Out for a walk or bike ride and love to read? Then be sure to stop at the "Little Free Library" located at 6406 Richards Avenue in Weston (turn on Powers Street off of Ross Avenue past the round-a-bout). Weston resident Lori Gross and her husband always enjoyed reading and going to the library with their children was something they always looked forward too. So when they heard about the "Little Free Library" they decided they wanted to build one in front of their home as a way to give back to the community and share their love of reading. The library is designed in the shape of a little red school house where people can take a book or return a book. There is also a bench if you just want to sit and read or look at what books are available. Thanks to the Gross family for this unique gift to the community. Be sure to stop by and see what books are available.
