PUBLIC FIRE PROTECTION FEE
In an effort to keep the property tax rate steady, the Village has determined that it can no longer afford to subsidize the Weston Water Utility's public fire protection charges, which are those costs which are accrued by the water utility to furnish water for fighting fires. Instead of subsidizing this expense with property tax dollars, the Village is returning these charges, in their entirety, back to the water utility. Further information regarding the charge and how it affects your water utility bill can be found by clicking HERE. You may also contact the Village at 715-359-2876.

LITTLE FREE LIBRARY
O ut for a walk or bike ride and love to read? Then be sure to stop at the "Little Free Library" located at 6406 Richards Avenue in Weston (turn on Powers Street off of Ross Avenue past the round-a-bout). Weston resident Lori Gross and her husband always enjoyed reading and going to the library with their children was something they always looked forward too. So when they heard about the "Little Free Library" they decided they wanted to build one in front of their home as a way to give back to the community and share their love of reading. The library is designed in the shape of a little red school house where people can take a book or return a book. There is also a bench if you just want to sit and read or look at what books are available. Thanks to the Gross family for this unique gift to the community. Be sure to stop by and see what books are available.

WESTON REGIONAL MEDICAL CENTER PARKING LOT REPLACEMENT BEGING PHASE FOUR ON AUGUST 19TH
A significant project to replace the parking lots of the Weston Regional Medical Center continues on Monday, August 19, as crews will begin work on Parking Lot #4 which provides access to the Main Entrance of Ministry Saint Clare's Hospital.
Replacement of Lot #4 is expected to take up to three weeks as it will be done in phases so that a portion of the lot will remain open for patients and visitors at all times. Entrance #4 will remain open throughout the project. Overflow parking for patients and visitors is available in the Outpatient Services Lot #2. Patients with appointments and visitors should allow extra time when visiting the campus.
The project is to repair certain defects in the current parking lot surface that became apparent after initial construction. Funding for the repairs was made possible as a result of a collaborated arrangement with the contractor, and the repairs will be completed in phases to minimize inconvenience to patients and visitors.
The latest information on the project as well as a campus map is available on the Ministry Saint Clare's Hospital Web Site at: http://ministryhealth.org/SCH/home.nws
Weather permitting; the project is scheduled to be completed by mid-September.

WESTON FARMER'S MARKET NOW ACCEPTING DEBIT CARDS
The Village of Weston Farmer's Market has the ability to accept Debit Cards through a token program. Tokens will be in $5 increments and there will be a $1 service charge added to each separate transaction. These tokens can then be used at all of the individual vendors at the Market.
The Weston Farmers Market also continues to accept FoodShare (EBT) cards as a form of payment which was implemented last summer with the assistance of the Marathon County Health Department and the Healthy Eating Active Living Coalition of Marathon County. Please look for the sandwich board sign on Market days to purchase your tokens through the Debit and EBT programs.
"The service of allowing electronic forms of payment not only helps Marathon County residents access more local, fresh foods, but it also supports the vendors of the market," says Amanda Ostrowski, Public Health Educator with Marathon County Health Department.
The Weston Farmers Market is located next to the Weston Municipal Center at 5500 Schofield Avenue and is open on Tuesday's and Saturday's from 8 a.m. until produce is sold out through the end of October.
