LetterGreetings!
"I'm in a better place than most people with Huntington's so I feel I owe it to the HD (Huntington's disease) community to be a voice for the disease. It's something I'm able to do-at the moment," -- Kim Lile

American Public Television Presentations
and I are proud to be offering you Mind in Quicksand: A Life with Huntington's in time for Huntington's Disease Awareness Month--May.

Mind in Quicksand portrays photographer Kim Lile's courageous odyssey with Huntington's disease.

Six years elapsed between the time Kim Lile first felt "something wrong" with her health to her diagnosis of Huntington's disease at age 42. Initially, it felt as if her mind was being swallowed in quicksand. Bouts of uncharacteristic clumsiness, sudden outbursts of temper, depression and forgetfulness grew progressively worse, eventually affecting her ability to work as a photographer and film script supervisor. Numerous medical tests and consultations with neurologists finally put a name to the inexplicable force changing Kim's life: Huntington's disease, the incurable brain disorder that causes devastating mental and physical deterioration over time. Although the diagnosis came as a total shock, Kim faced her new reality head-on. She resolved to find out as much as she could about Huntington's and capture it on film to raise public awareness about the disease. The resulting documentary, Mind in Quicksand: A Life with Huntington's, is by turns touching, informative and inspiring.  The documentary is a testament to both the bravery of Huntington's disease sufferers and the urgent need for a cure.

Black Cat Productions and nationwide Huntington Awareness organizations will be providing promotional and outreach support.

Mind in Quicksand: A Life with Huntington's is produced by Black Cat Productions, Inc. The documentary is presented by and distributed to public television stations by American Public Television (APT-Exchange). It is funded by The Mercy & Patrick C. Ewing Charitable Foundation and Ted Ross. Local underwriting is permissible.
