Team OracleWTTW National Productions and NETA are pleased to announce the 2013 release of The Wind Gods. The documentary is a thrilling, action-packed documentary relating the story of the 33rd America's Cup yacht race, in which Oracle owner Larry Ellison's American yacht USA-17 defeated the Swiss-owned yacht of Italian entrepreneur Ernesto Bertarelli. Beautifully shot with unique footage of the famous race, the film documents Ellison's efforts to bring the America's Cup back to the United States after 18 years. 


The Wind God is a powerful celebration of life on the ocean, and the men and women who spend their lives seeking to conquer it. Directed by Peabody-award winner Fritz Mitchell and produced by Skydance Productions, the soaring orchestral score by composer Pinar Toprak received the International Film Music Critics Association Award for Best Documentary Score in 2011. It is narrated by Jeremy Irons.

The Wind Gods captures the excitement of ocean races as it tells the archetypal stories of sailors from all times and cultures.  It's sure to invigorate viewers and touch their spirit of adventure. As Dan Soles sums it up: "Wind Gods is a timely documentary that captures the drama and excitement of how the U.S. won back the America's Cup. With a new race for the Cup coming this summer, the timing is right to air this compelling story."

The Wind Gods is produced by Skydance Productions (movies include Mission Impossible, True Grit and Star Trek), presented by WTTW National Productions and distributed by NETA.  It is funded by Gulfstream Aerospace and Aircell. Local underwriting is permissible.
