CHESNEY'S TEACHER OF THE YEAR!
Please join us in congratulating Ms. Kara Cowdrick, 5th grade teacher, as Chesney's Teacher of the Year!! Ms. Cowdrick not only leads by example, she brings a team-concept to her students and her classroom, as her motto is "Teamwork makes the dream work!" Her belief is that "every child can learn," and by knowing her students, she brings out their strengths and provides them the confidence they need to succeed not only in the classroom, but in life. She will represent Chesney in the County competition this fall. We all wish her the best of luck!

CogAT REMINDER
CogAT Testing for 1st, 3rd & 5th grade students will be held September 16 - 18 beginning at 9:00 a.m. each morning.
You can help your child prepare for testing days by making sure they have had a good night's rest and a good breakfast before coming to school. It is also helpful to encourage your child to do his or her best on the test. Please make sure your child is at school no later than 9:00 a.m. on testing days. If they arrive after this time, they will have to make up the test another day.

GIVE WITH TARGET!! VOTE NOW!!
Help us give up to $5 million to schools all over the country through "Give With Target."
Simply click on CHARLES BRANT CHESNEY ELEMENTARY SCHOOL from our list of eligible schools and vote for it weekly until September 21 or until $5 million has been awarded, whichever occurs first. It takes just 25 votes to start. After that, Target will donate $25 to your selected school. Upon receiving 25 votes, each additional vote equals $1 more for up to $10,000 per school.
NO PURCHASE NECESSARY. Voting ends on 9/21/13 at 11:59:59 p.m. CT or when $5 million has been awarded, whichever comes first. Max of $10,000 awarded per school. Voting is limited to legal residents of the 50 US/DC, 13 years of age and older. Limit one vote per person per week.

ON-GOING CHESNEY FUND RAISING EVENTS!
Every year, our Chesney classroom and staff members have collected Box Tops and Labels for Education. Last year, we held numerous contests and raised over $700.00!! Please click on the links below the logos shown above to see how you can help Chesney! Please send your clipped labels (please follow website guidelines) in a sealed ziplock bag with your child's name and their teacher's name. The teacher will submit the bag to the PTA collection area. Please invite your family, friends, neighbors and co-workers to help your child in this effort. Thank you for your support!

SCHOOL and FAMILY ACTIVITY DATES TO REMEMBER!
Parents: Please do not schedule any appointments on the mornings that scheduled Tests (CogAT, ITBS, CRCT, etc.) are being held. Please assure that your child arrives to school early and is in their classroom before the bell rings.
