For the sixth year, the Virginia Living Museum will celebrate the long and healthy life of its wild turkeys during the annual Turkey Pardoning the day before Thanksgiving. Newport News Mayor McKinley Price will pardon the turkeys during a brief ceremony on the outdoor trail beside the Turkey/Deer Habitat. The event is included in regular admission. The turkey exhibit is sponsored by the Colonial Longbeards chapter of the National Wild Turkey Federation.

Time: Crafts and activities 10am-1pm, pardoning at 11am.
The museum is closed on Thanksgiving, Nov. 26.

50 cent Star of Wonder Nov. 25-29
Celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Abbitt Planetarium and "Star of Wonder" with 50 cent tickets (plus museum admission) for non-members Thanksgiving weekend (Nov. 25-29). VLM members are always free. Seating is limited. "Star of Wonder" is shown through Dec. 31. Days and times vary.

Holiday Magic
"Holiday Magic" is a new laser show filled with classic holiday music, including Bing Crosby's' "White Christmas," The Russian Dance from the "Nutcracker," and "Linus and Lucy" by Vince Guaraldi. Days and times vary.

Holiday Evenings
Get into the holiday spirit with an evening at the Abbitt Planetarium Nov. 28 or Dec. 19   See "Star of Wonder" at 6:30pm and "Holiday Magic" at 7:30pm. Tickets are $3 for VLM members, $6  for non-members. Purchase in advance.

Homeschool Morning
Thursday, Dec. 3 | 9am-noon

Homeschool families can choose among natural science and planetarium programs and an environmental science lab for grades K-12. All programs are grade-level targeted and taught by professional educators. Register in advance.
