Hello Songwriters!
What better way to spend the new year's holiday than hanging out with friends, right? Well, some of our best videos are Song Sessions that feature both Steve Seskin and Pat Pattison. These sessions combine great moments of friendship and fun with really useful songwriting tips. Pat and Steve don't always agree, but their differing opinions provide some seriously good food for thought you can use when you work on your songs. Here are a few of our favorites:

Run Time: 0:20:34
As Steve says, the Muse often gives you great gifts, but maybe not in the right order. Pat and Steve debate which part of this song is the real chorus.

Run Time: 0:21:33
Watch the impact that choosing the "right" key, and the "right" notes (to highlight important words in the chorus) can have.

Run Time: 0:30:37
Some of the topics covered include the rule of twos, phrasing (weak-bar vs. strong-bar), and clarifying the intended meaning of the song so you can choose words that make it clear.

Run Time: 0:30:25
Witness the magic of Steve and Pat working together on the phrasing to make an already terrific song even better.

As a rule, the Song Sessions, whether taught by one instructor or a team, are an excellent way to incorporate ideas from more focused lessons into the reworking of a single song. Check them out and see how different songwriting techniques can work together to make a good song great.

Enjoy the videos... and have a happy New Year!

Warmest wishes,
Diana
