Hello Songwriters!
So...you've finished writing your song - or a lot of songs! - and now you are thinking about recording. What's next? Where do you start? Do you have the right intro? Do you even need one? What about your arrangement? Do you have the right mic? Should you hire a producer? So many questions! Recording can be exciting and fun, but if you're unprepared it can be confusing and maddening. This week's featured videos can answer those questions and set you on the path to a great recording. Whether you plan to record in your home or at a studio, on your own or with a producer, we've got you covered.
The planning stage of recording, called pre-production, can be just as important, if not more important, than anything that happens when you're in front of a microphone... but or course what mic you use matters, too. Steven Webber's Pre-Production and Chosing Mics videos can help you with both of these things.
Of course, if choosing mics and doing the actual recording isn't your thing, you'll likely end up recording at a studio...which brings up another set of questions. Should you hire a producer? What exactly is a producer's role? Part one of Bonnie Hayes' series on producers can help you sort that out.
