Hello Songwriters!
As songwriters we often focus on polishing our lyrics -- changing words or adjusting the phrasing -- to better deliver our song to our listeners. But maybe what our song really needs is to find the key that works best for our voice (even if we
thought wrote in that key!). Or perhaps a simple tweak in the chord voicings or in the song's arrangement will really make it shine. That's where this week's videos, all by Randall Williams, can help!
In these videos, you'll learn the basics of using a capo, tricks for creating easier chord progressions, how you can open use an open string or two to open up your song's "melodic depth of field" and the way open tunings can virtually give you a new (but still familiar) instrument to play with, an instrument which will deliver your song in a new way. How cool is that?
And these videos are just the tip of the iceberg; Randall has
plenty more to offer on open tunings, music theory, and using cut capos.
