Hello Songwriters!

What elements would have to come together for you to write your best song ever?  Could it arise from the heart and emotion you put into your writing?  Or would it emerge from the way you craft your song, ensuring that every word perfectly supports all the others? Of course, "How do I write my best song ever?" is a songwriter's eternal question -- and there is a different answer for everyone. In hopes of getting you closer to that answer, this week's videos dive into techniques that have worked for Steve Seskin and Pat Pattison. Perhaps their expert insight and tools will provide you with a road map to your best song ever!

First, Steve talks about heart and craft and his path to writing his best songs.  In the next video, Pat explains the craft of writing songs that gain in emotional impact by using the "3 Boxes" to cast new perspectives on the chorus each time it comes around.  Finally, both Pat and Steve weigh in on RJ Cowdery's song "I'll Keep Trying," offering finishing touches and tiny changes which unleash her song's emotional impact.  The video offers a real experience of seeing how you might write with heart then apply craft to let what your heart has said really shine through.

Warmest wishes,
