Hello Songwriters!

Getting your song out there to be heard takes its own brand of creativity. Everything needs to highlight the strengths of the song.  These videos offer ideas on how to make the most of your songs - and how to get them heard.

Steve Seskin

What song was pitched over a campfire in Kerrville, Texas? Find out in this video. There's more than just the traditional path to getting your song picked up by an artist or producer. Listen to a couple inspirational real-world stories that Steve has to tell about songs in the real music world. Plus, find out what Steve's "Don't Laugh at Me" (co-written with Allen Shamblin) has in common with "Blowin' in the Wind!"

Pre-Production Arrangement and Instrumentation (0:32:09)
Stephen Webber

When you're shopping your song around, every element of your demo needs to get out of the way and let your song come shining through. Make sure your intro delivers us right into the song, so that we want to hear more... or maybe leave it out all together -- because you can't count on people really giving you a chance. Keep the recording simple, perhaps just the vocal and guitar or keyboard, to engage the imagination of the producer or artist.

Producers, Part 1: What is the Role of a Producer? (0:05:35) ~ Quick Tip!
Bonnie Hayes

In this conversation-style Quick Tip, Bonnie draws on her own experience as a producer and as an artist working with a producer. The job of the producer is to be "outside," as opposed to the artist who is "inside," personally involved with the song. The producer has an overview of you as an artist and oversees the overall process.

Enjoy!
Warm regards,
Diana
