DIABETES SCREENINGS:
GMACC Members Team up for Free Diabetes Screenings on November 14

State Representative Kay Hatcher is teaming up with Mercy Hospital and the Earthmover Credit Union to offer Free Diabetes screenings for the public on Diabetes Awareness Day, November 14th, at the Earthmover Credit Union offices in Oswego.
"Diabetes is a disease that can affect anyone. currently, nearly 800,000 Illinoisans gave /diabetes,  Screenings are absolutely vital because many who have it don't even know it, and early detection and treatment is key to managing the disease and living a long and healthy life," Rep. Hatcher said.  "Diabetes Awareness Day  provides awareness, prevention and understanding."

2011 Tree WinnerVILLAGE NOW ACCEPTING BUSINESS  APPLICATIONS FOR FESTIVAL OF TREES HOLIDAY TREE DECORATING CONTEST...
 
What's the Festival of Trees?
Your opportunity to decorate a holiday tree in Village Hall to promote your business and to earn potential
BRAGGING RIGHTS all year long!
 
Last year's winner was the Montgomery Fire Department
(Pictured above.)
 
Limited spaces NOW available! 
Return completed application by Nov 16th! 
 Or, contact Village Hall at 630-896-8080
 
Village Hall will contact you with confirmation of your participation. Spaces will be allotted on a strictly first come, first served basis.
 
Once confirmed, bring your tree to decorate (or pre-decorated) to Village Hall on Friday, Nov 30 between 9 am and 8 pm.  (No more than 36 inches wide, but height does not matter.)  You must take down your tree by December 21st (M-F 8 am - 4:30 pm.
 
Voting will take place beginning with the Annual Tree Lighting Event on December 2nd and run through December 21st. 
*** Over 600 area residents attended the Tree Lighting in 2011 ***
Be creative and make your business holiday tree memorable.

 

The winning business will also receive public recognition at a January Village Board meeting!  This could be you!

VILLAGE OF MONTGOMERY HOLIDAY TREE LIGHTING AND FESTIVAL OF TREES

5-7 pm / Village Hall - 200 N. River Street, Montgomery

  

Come enjoy the spirit of the season with area residents courtesy of your own Chamber of Commerce in partnership with the Village of Montgomery. 

 

Santa and Mrs. Claus arrive via Firetruck to light the Holiday Tree in front of Village Hall and stay to pose for family pictures.  (Bring your own camera.) Musical entertainment is provide by local schools, scout troops and churches.  And there will be plenty of FREE hot chocolate and cookies for everyone. Over 600 residents attended in 2011!

 

BACK BY POPULAR DEMAND... 

A Festival of Trees will deck the halls of Village Hall, thanks to many local businesses.  This is a competition for the favorite decorated Holiday Tree of the year.  (SEE NOVEMBER 16 ENTRY DEADLINE ABOVE FOR DETAILS ON HOW YOUR BUSINESS CAN PARTICIPATE.  Space is limited so reserve your place soon!)

 

Trees will be on display for the Tree Lighting event and then during Village Hall office hours through December 21st.  Visitors will vote on their favorite tree.  

 

The winner will be recognized at a Village Board meeting in January and enjoy bragging rights all year!

You can make a significant difference in the life of a child.  Here's how...

  • Sponsor an individual child or family -- Purchase individualized gifts based on current needs, we recommend spending $50 per child. Contact Deborah Collins at 630-896-4636 or, deborah.collins@uwfoxvalley.org for gifting details.
  • Make a monetary donation - Checks can be mailed to: Fox Valley United Way, 44 E. Galena Bald., Aurora, IL  60505. Cash donations can be dropped of at this same address during normal business hours.  Or, visit: www.uwfoxvalley.org to contribute by credit card. 
  • Purchase a gift card from a local grocery store to help provide a holiday meal for the family
  • Purchase new hats, gloves, mittens and scarves for the children so they do not have to worry about being cold during the winter months.
  • Run a children's toy drive! Drop off new unwrapped gifts at the Fox Valley United Way office.

Please note: all gifts should be unwrapped and donations of any size are appreciated.  Deadline to drop off donations at the Fox Valley United Way office is Monday, December 10th.

Your GMACC Ambassadors...

 

 

What are Ambassadors?

The Chamber's Ambassadors are members who volunteer their time in order to provide an invaluable link between the Chamber and the Community. They will ensure that all GMACC Members receive the maximum benefits from their investment.

 

The primary Ambassadors responsibilities are to help in the retention of members, recruitment of new members and to make sure all members feel that their business is truly benefiting from being involved in the Montgomery community. 

 

Ambassador Duties Include... 

  • Mentor new members by inviting them to Chamber events and introducing them to other members.
  • Promote the Greater Montgomery Area Chamber of Commerce and invite businesses to join.
  • Attend and/or assist in Chamber activities and events.
  • Provide feedback from discussions with new members to the Chamber so that we can continually strive to meet and exceed their expectations.
  • Attend monthly Member Luncheon and Ambassador meeting.
  • Make every effort to attend ribbon cuttings and other publicity events on behalf of the Chamber.
