Greetings!

It is time for the staff and community to begin thinking about the next school year. Please write us a letter if there are any characteristics or specific needs that you would like for us to consider regarding pupil classroom assignments. Also, include in the letter the social, emotional and educational needs or other individual or personal traits that you feel are significant characteristics of your child. Expressions of preference for a specific teacher request will not be accepted. Teacher assignments are made in August based upon enrollment at specific grade levels.

Every attempt will be made to match your child's unique learning characteristics to the teacher's teaching style. Please bullet your ideas and be as brief as you can. Your letters should be submitted to Mr. Kuntz by June 3, 2013. The placement committee is composed of classroom teachers, specialist teachers, administration and the school counselors to determine student assignments for the upcoming school year. In order for the request to receive priority by the placement committee, it will be important for you to submit your request by June 3, 2013.

We have a few reminders to pass along. May also marks the start of our SOL testing window. Belle View students will be testing from May 13-June 7, 2013. Please check out our Belle View website for specific grade level testing dates. Also, May 6-10 is Staff Appreciation Week. Please feel free to have your child draw a picture or make a card for their hard working teachers!

Sincerely,

Thomas Kuntz               Katie Pluntke

  • Trails for Youth will be giving out free safety equipment
(helmets, bells, gloves, lights) to any students who need them.
  • They will also have bikes and helmets for you to borrow. Please note that these bikes do not have training wheels.
  • You can also bring your own bike and we'll double check that it's the right size and is safe for you to ride.

See You There!
And, don't forget that Belle View ES will be participating in National Bike to School Day on Wed., May 8!

Belle View Book Swap

Books Needed

Are your children's bookshelves bulging?

Are you making space or trading
old books for new?

Please consider donating any new or gently used books appropriate for children in Headstart-6th grades to our end of the school year Book Swap. On June 13th and 14th, each child at Belle View will get to choose at least one book to bring home from our donated selection. The more books we get, the more we can swap!

Drop your books off in the Swap Box at the school office anytime between now and June 10th.

If you have any questions, or would like to volunteer to help with the Book Swap, contact Jessica McCarl at Jessica.McCarl@fcps.edu.

$500 Scholarship to be Awarded...

The Belle View Elementary School Principal's Outstanding Achievement Award will be presented to a West Potomac High School Senior this June. The $500 award, which is presented during the Seniors Awards Convocation, recognizes outstanding achievement, leadership and service. If you know of a senior at West Potomac who would like to be considered for this award, please have them contact Barbara Conner, Career Counselor at WPHS at 703-718-2500. To be eligible, applicants must have been a student at Belle View for one or more years, and must currently be a graduating senior at West Potomac.

NEW LOST & FOUND

There are two new stations for lost and found items. This new set up makes it much easier to find what you are looking for. Please be sure to check them for coats, lunch boxes, etc. They are still located outside the cafeteria.

The new lost and found stations were donated by a previous Belle View family. There are two of these outside the cafeteria. Thank you for contributing to our school.
