Happy New Year! As we look ahead to the second part of the school year, we will continue to focus on academic objectives and high expectations for all students. It is hard to believe, but January 25th marks the end of the second quarter. Now is an excellent time to sit down with your child and review their academic and social progress as we approach the mid-point of the school year. Recognize your child for their accomplishments thus far and encourage them to work toward new goals. Goal setting is an important life skill.

Please continue to support our teachers by reinforcing with your children that school is important and they need to always try their best. Your continuous implementation of the following procedures can assist us in educating your child and help your child become a life-long learner.

  • Check to make sure that your child has completed his or her homework each day.
  • Review work that is sent home and discuss your child's strengths and areas for growth.
  • Make sure your child comes to school on time each day and is only absent when necessary.
  • Communicate regularly with your child's teacher.

Thank you for your continued support!

The Annual Sock Hop
Needs Volunteers!

The Sock Hop is always a favorite event in the winter for the students. As of now there is no one to coordinate this event scheduled for Friday, February 8. If no one comes forward to organize it, it will not happen this year. If you would be willing to coordinate the DJ, food, and volunteers please contact us. It would be great to split the event between 2 or 3 co-chairs. The cafeteria and gym are on hold for Friday, February 8.

Contact Sue Capper (zqbobski@aol.com) or Melissa Brunton (mbrunton@dsa.org).

Box Tops & Labels for Education
boxtops

Congratulations to Miss Earley's and Mrs. Schull's classes who launched Belle View off on a rocket start by collecting the most Box Tops & Labels for Education during our first 3 month challenge (Oct - Dec). Miss. Earley's class collected 831 Labels. Mrs. Schull's class collected 748 Box Tops. Both classes will enjoy a special snack party during the month of January and get to display the Box Top & Label trophies in their classrooms.

In January, all classes collecting more than 150 Box Tops and/or Labels will be put in a random drawing for a special class snack. Three winners will be chosen from the drawing. (If a class collects more than 150 box tops and 150 labels, that class will be entered twice).

Also in January, we will continue with the monthly challenges. Top collectors receive a read aloud from Mr. Kuntz or Mrs. Pluntke and get to display the traveling trophy.

Please keep collecting all year long. Belle View receives 10 cents for each box top. We have collected over 7,000 ($700) Box Tops so far. We receive points for all Labels collected which we can spend on educational materials. We have collected 3,600 label points this year. Ask your neighbors, friends and co-workers to help you collect them.

To learn more go to www.BoxTops4Education.com (BTFE.com) and www.LabelsforEducation.com.

If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact Chris Poulson at 703-347-6749 or  chrispoulson@verizon.net.

Helpful Hints:

  1. Please put your child's Teacher's Name on your bag of Box Tops & Labels & turn them into the teacher
  2. Box Tops & Labels are two different programs but are very similar. You may turn in Box Tops & Labels together.  You do not need to separate them.
  3. Box Tops expire ~ Don't wait too long to turn them in!
  4. Include the UPC Code with the Labels. See samples below.
  5. Campbell & V8 juices require the cap instead of a label.

The classes that collect the most Box Tops & Labels during the entire year receive a Pizza & Ice Cream Party!
