Dear Belle View Families,
We hope you were able to enjoy some of the wonderful Belle View events last month with your children. Events such as Family Literacy Night, Bobcat Bingo, Chick-Fil-A Night, and our Thanksgiving Luncheon would not be possible without the continued support of our amazing PTA, staff, and Belle View Community. We look forward to seeing you at the Book Fair and Family Movie Night this month.
As the holiday season approaches, we would like to take this opportunity to thank our staff, parents, students and community for the tremendous support we receive on a daily basis.
Thank you volunteers for the countless hours helping our children.
Thank you community members for supporting our school.
Thank you parents for providing such wonderful home support.
Thank you students for coming to school daily ready and eager to learn.
Lastly, thank you staff members for providing Belle View's students a world class education.
We wouldn't be the great school we are without you. We wish you and your family a restful and relaxing winter break. Best wishes for the upcoming year.
Proud Principals of the Belle View Bobcats,
Tom Kuntz Katie Pluntke

Veteran's Day Celebration
Belle View held a celebration in honor of Veteran's Day on Monday, November 12, 2012. Mr. Kuntz addressed the crowd and acknowledged the veterans in attendance and those that were unable to attend because they were serving overseas. Several staff members were acknowledged as veterans as well. The crowd participated in the Pledge of Allegiance and Moment of Silence together, followed by the singing of "God Bless America" by our very own Mrs. Davis.
After the song, students planted individual flags in a sea of red, white, and blue on the front lawn of the school. The PTA provided refreshments to the Veterans in attendance.

Fan Mail
Hello. My husband and I are retired elementary educators with three grandchildren in Alexandria. We cared for them this last weekend, taking them to a Saturday morning basketball session at Belle View. The school's playground was an open invitation to them when the session was over. I was intrigued with every inch of the space, from the corner outdoor classroom stage area to the FIVE special gardens--vernal, rain, rose, vegetable, and sensory. I even think there was one more! I then saw the rain barrel which was the icing on the cake. Such wonderful lessons for all involved! This time, I was the one who didn't want to leave the playground when it was time.
I would be so appreciative if you would be able to send me the plans that were developed for the whole undertaking. To bring such ideas to Canal Fulton's Northwest School District would be a thing of wonder.
Thank you.

Lost & Found
You may want to take a look through the lost and found, located outside the cafeteria. You'll see why they always say to label children's outerwear! Any items still in the lost and found after school ends on 12/21/12, or Holiday Break, will be donated to a worthy cause. Thank you.

Citizens Invited to Provide Input for FCPS Superintendent Search Through Community Forums and Online Survey
Fairfax County Public Schools wants your input as the search to hire a new superintendent moves forward. Superintendent Jack D. Dale will retire on June 30, 2013.
The Fairfax County School Board wants to hear from parents, community members, and employees about the leadership qualifications of the next superintendent. The School Board is conducting a search for the new superintendent with the help of national search firm Hazard, Young, Attea & Associates.
As part of the process, parents and citizens are invited to complete the online Superintendent Profile Survey, which will be open until January 18, 2013, about desired leadership characteristics of effective superintendents. The survey is open and available in seven different languages.
Eight community forums will be held December 3 through 7 to help identify leadership qualities for the next superintendent. All parents and Fairfax County residents are invited to participate in any of the following community forums:
Spanish and Korean interpreters will be available at each community forum.
The search firm will present tentative results of the survey and community forums on leadership criteria to the School Board at its regular meeting on December 20.
More details about the superintendent search can be found on the FCPS website.
