Greetings!
Surprisingly enough as the snow started to melt a few days ago little daffodils were starting to sprout up from the ground. Spring is on it's way and with only 17 days till all the St. Patty Day celebrations, it's a perfect time to visit the wineries and have a bit of green wine. Wishing you the Luck of the Irish. See you along the trail!! Cayuga Cathy

Six Mile Creek Vineyard
Six Mile Creek Vineyard, owned by Nancy and Roger Battistella, is located on Slaterville Rd., Route 79 East, just 2.5 miles from Downtown Ithaca. The winery resides in a Dutch Colonial Barn and offers a welcoming environment to sample their Finger Lakes Wines and Spirits.
Throughout the winter, Six Mile Creek hosts many different events and concerts. On Thursday afternoons, January thru March, they offer a blind tasting series hosted by their assistant winemaker, Paul King. Each week they select a different Finger Lakes grape varietal. During the tasting you sample one of Six Mile Creek's wines along with wines from other Finger Lakes wineries. Each session begins with a little background on the wine you will be tasting and how they compare. On Friday evenings through the winter months Six Mile Creek hosts a music series. Running through March 14th the series hosts local Ithaca musicians making Six Mile Creek the perfect spot to start your Finger Lakes weekend. Enjoy a glass of Six Mile Creek's award winning wine or select from several different local beers. Local cheeses and crackers are available but feel free to bring your own snacks as well. At the Cayuga Lake Wine Trail Mardi Gras event, Six Mile Creek Vineyard will be serving Bellissimo Double Chocolate Cookies. Try the recipe out for yourself. Bellissimo Double Chocolate Cookies Ingredients 2 (1 ounce) squares unsweetened chocolate 3/4 cup white sugar 1/2 cup margarine, softened 1 egg 1 teaspoon vanilla extract 1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour 1/2 teaspoon baking soda 1/2 teaspoon salt 1/2 cup milk Directions Preheat oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C). In the microwave or over a double boiler, melt chocolate stirring frequently until smooth. Remove from heat. In a medium bowl, cream together the sugar and margarine until smooth. Beat in the egg, melted chocolate and vanilla until well blended. Combine the flour, baking soda and salt; stir into the chocolate mixture alternately with the milk. Drop batter by heaping teaspoonfuls onto cookie sheets, about 1 inch apart. Bake 8 to 10 minutes until cookies are puffy and slightly cracked on top. Let cool on wire racks. These cookies pair well with Six Mile Creek's Bellissimo Wine, a new edition to their ever growing wine selection. This wine, one of their sweetest, has aromas of raspberry and sweet grapes but remains balanced with refreshing acidity and a pleasant finish. Serve well chilled. "We are open seven days a week so whether you would like to sample some delicious wine, enjoy a glass of wine on our deck overlooking the scenic Six Mile Creek Valley or get some great recommendations from our knowledgeable staff on local restaurants and places to visit - Six Mile Creek is well worth the stop" states Peter Masse, the winery's General Manager.
