Ken Riemer co-owner with his wife Diane of Buttonwood Grove Winery says "Wow, the harvest of 2013 is Button front going to be memorable.  Come be part of the Buttonwood experience, and enjoy our excellent wines, always served with a smile while you ride through the vineyards.  Autumn on the Cayuga Lake Wine Trail is a very special time".

They're now featuring three new wines, Gewurztraminer, with a nice spicy finish, Buttonwood Red, a light body Merlot and Miss KassButton cabinie, a tawny port. Lucas Vineyards

Ruth Lucas, owner of Lucas Vineyards with her daughters, Stephanie and Lucas family Ruthie plus her son-in-law Jeff, states, "As one of the original members of the Cayuga Lake Wine Trail, Lucas Vineyards never imagined the impact the Finger Lakes would have as a world class wine region.  We moved to the area from Long Island in 1974 to be full time grape growers for a commercial winery. After our third year the commercial winery cancelled our contract. When the Farm Winery Act Lucas GF Group passed and a grape grower could now have a tasting room, we said let's give it a try and if it doesn't work we will have one big party". I can tell you it has worked for them and they still hold a big party, their German Fest, one you won't want to miss.

On Sunday, September 15th from 12:30 to 4:30pm, Lucas Vineyards will  be hosting their 16th Annual German Festival. The Enzian Bavarian Band and Dancers will be Lucas GF salad contest performing. There will be grape stomping, grape pies, German Food, the Best German Potato Salad Contest, judged by yours truly, Alp-horn and Polka Contests, Balloon Art and of course their famous Rieslings and Gewürztraminers.

This event is fun for the whole family. Rain or Shine (under the tents).

Winemaker for a Week

Congratulations to this year's winner Janelle Drach for winning our Winemaker for a Week Knapp grapes contest where we received over 2,000 entries. We choose a local girl from Geneva who has grown up here in the Finger Lakes and has a real desire to learn more about the wine industry and in particular to make wine. Her week begins September 30th and goes through October 4th. This is the third successful year we have run this event with Greek Peak Resort, The Finger Lakes Tourism Alliance and the Cayuga Lake Wine Trail.
