Leslie Green Guilbault is a potter and bone carver from Hamilton, who learned the basics of wheel thrown pottery by taking elective courses as an undergraduate at the University of Notre Dame in the late 80's.  After earning her master's degree in English Language and Literature in 1993, she worked as a senior administrator at Colgate University for 13 years as the Bookstore Director, Staff Affirmative Action Officer, and Director of Operations.  In 2008, she left higher education to explore the fast-paced world of contract pharmaceutical manufacturing, where she worked as a project manager and liaison to U.S. and international "big pharma" customers. That job change, while interesting and lucrative, was creatively unfulfilling.  She exited that world in 2011 and dove head first into the art world by starting her own business, LGG Creative Art.

Leslie works from her home studio where she spends much of her time sketching out new designs, throwing pieces on the wheel, and experimenting with glaze and surface designs.  In the past two years, she has created seven distinct lines of pottery plus a unique array of carved bone jewelry and ornately carved bone and antler sculptures which she sells online in her ETSY shop and in multiple galleries and shops across New York.  2013 was the artist's first year of participating in juried art shows.  She received the first place Award of Distinction in Ceramics at the Syracuse Arts and Crafts Festival, a 2nd place award for bone carving at Industria Studios "Bone Show" in Tucson, AZ, and a 3rd place award for multimedia art at Chenango Colorscape Arts Festival in Norwich, NY.  Leslie's work has been accepted into six juried art shows in 2014, including the #1 ranked show in America:  Central Pennsylvania Festival of the Arts in State College, PA.

Being an artist requires hard work, intense drive, and a creative spirit, but those things are not nearly enough to bridge the gap from "one who dabbles in art" to one who makes a living at it.  Leslie would like to thank her loving and supportive husband, Mike, her wonderfully helpful and inspiring son, Sammy, and her corporate sponsor, Mark Cassell of Territory Heritage Resource Consulting, for providing unwavering and enthusiastic support of her dream.
