Greetings!

This July we celebrate the accomplishments of our Foundation to date.  Now we want to regroup and roll up our sleeves and move our project  to the next level.

How you might ask?
  Glad you asked!

I am listing  upcoming events for the Foundation.  I am also including a contact name and telephone number and or email address for that contact person.  Please get in touch with us via that contact person if you wish to help with that activity.  Thank you, we need you!!!  More of this later in the newsletter.

For now I would like to introduce some of our latest volunteer talent.   Thank you all for contacting us!

Welcome to the VCAFI New Bee's -

Jeri & Tom Cannon - Jeri is already putting together our media kit.  Tom has put together a new and very dynamic brochure for the Foundation.  Two fresh new face's who are not afraid of getting right to it.  Jeri said we are going to move mountains together and I believe her emphatically.

Sharon Vaswani -  Boots already on the ground.  Sharon has taken it upon herself to get out and start meeting with local businesses to help promote the upcoming Clown College reunion in October 2013.  Plus she got us into the Venice Farmers Market to promote our Foundation on July 19, 2013 8am-12pm.  Please visit us and get your support bumper sticker or lawn sign. Maybe a tee shirt, book, or circus jewelry!

June Brune - New volunteer does not do email or computer.  We will call you everytime we need help!

Jessica Heiny - Recent college graduate in Civil Engineering.  Jessica will be meeting with the Foundation on Thursday bringing Civil, Structural Engineering, and Surveying in-kind services for the project.
Incredible!

Talking about bee's Thank you to The Sun Coast Bee Keepers Association for getting the word out that a huge hive was discovered under an old cargo container on site.  The bee's got real mad at us for disturbing their home.  They let us know by chasing down and stinging several of us.  Thanks to the quick work of  a local Sun Coast member   the bee's will have a new proper home some where else, away from the Arena site, (Thank GOD)!

Sharyon Rose - Long time VCAFI volunteer will take on the responsibility to archive all the articles and photo's for the foundation.  Thank you Sharyon!

Shirley J. Cannon - Former school principal is going to help this project move forward.  Thank you Shirley for you support at City Council!

Judy Houston - "Judy Writes" Long time volunteer keeps you informed through her very interesting Venice Gondolier Column.

Additional offers of help -

Thank you Leah Sherman of Collectors Gallery & Framery.  Your beautifully framed presentation for RBBB is absolutely magnificent.  You always find ways of helping this organization and have done so for years!

Kathy & Bob Cushing "Venice Street Legal".  Wow you two are at the top of our list of great ideas.  We look forward to having presence on Main Street in your wonderful trams.  Plus donation collection boxes to boot.  We are so very happy to have the help!

Brian Dickerson - One of the most amazing people I know in Venice. Your parents should be very proud of you (and I know they are)!  Brian has helped our Foundation for years and that still continues with his new outreach on our behalf.  Seeing your parents at City Council gives me such courage every time we present.

Dave Fintak Roofing contractor - We are very happy to know Dave, he is an Environmentalist, Green Contractor, and all around nice guy.  Dave is going to help us accomplish much.

Robert Beckner Green Roofers -  We are awaiting more info from Bob, but being a local we know we will have interaction in the future.

Antonio Cordona - We would love to have your help in the future.  Thank you!

Dave Sherman created the most beautiful love seat from the old Arena bleacher seats.  We hope to sell a ton of these to raise month for the project.  Excellent job!

Cross Construction Services - Tyler Lillibridge the company hired to do the surgical demolition of the Arena property.  We are sure we will be on bended knee's for additional architectual elements from the Arena.  We will be asking in the future.  Thanks Tyler was great to meet you!

THE CLOWNS ARE COMING!!!!October 10, 2013  WE WANT A HERO'S WELCOME FOR THEM!!!!  PLEASE CONTACT US IF YOU CAN HELP!  I am praying we could have something of the old College in the way of artifacts to please them.  Debra Walk????

7.  The VCAFI Foundation would like to find an artist to create a proper and beautiful bronze statue of Gunther Gebel-Williams. Please contact us if you know of, or are an artist who can create such an important memorial to Mr. Gebel. We want to put him in front of his building where he should be. Can you help? (941) 485-7675  Thank you!

YES!!!! Our meeting today with Vince La Porta, (City of Venice Building Official), and Airport Administrator Chris Rozansky was nothing short of wonderful. The City and Airport are being extremely helpful in the surgical deconstruction of the Arena project. Gunther Gebel-Williams building will only see the rusted metal removed. We can and will save the truss system and a good portion of the perlins that support the roof deck. This makes perfect and common sense to work together as a team to make the restoration of the site as cost effective and streamlined as possible. You know that does not always seem to happen when Government entities are involved. I can report first hand this is a new day for the Arena and the City of Venice! Don't ever say you don't believe in miracles, this project is living proof!  THANK YOU ALL!
Sincerely, Orlando Bevington
