a bulky weight cotton & ramie blend makes for quick Spring knitting in bright colors
VERA

When it comes to knitting in the Winter, there are two things specifically that make it oh so enjoyable. Firstly, we rejoice in using bulky-weight yarns; not only are they scrumptious and soft, but they knit up like lightning. There is nothing so satisfying as knitting a hat in a few hours. Secondly, Winter knitting is all about layering; it is perfectly acceptable to wear legwarmers over your tights, fingerless mitts over your mittens, and knitted vests over your knitted sweaters--if designer-fashionisto Stephen West is doing it, on his instagram profile, then you know it's fabulous!

Thankfully, we don't have to give up these perks when the Sun finally blesses us with warmth. Yarns like cotton blend ENYA make it possible to work with bulky yarn even after the temperatures have gone up. At a gauge of 3.25 stitches to the inch, knits like the Vera Poncho Top fly off the needles in no time at all. ENYA's softness and drape create beautifully breathable garments with just a little bit of shine, perfect for the Spring and Summer. The Vera Poncho Top is a great example of fashionable warm weather layering, and the Spring 2014 season is resplendent with the crop top look, so it's the perfect introductory Spring knit to get you in style. Composed of an open, crochet-like stitch pattern, theVera Poncho Top is a fabulous layering piece. And you don't have to have rock solid abs to wear it; pair it with a similar crop top and high-waisted skirt for a very au courant look, or layer it over a longer top and jeans. It's also great for this time in between seasons, as you can layer it over a thin long sleeve shirt in early Spring.

The Vera Poncho Top and other designs in ENYA can be purchased online, at your LYS, or by clicking the "BUY NOW" button above!

DESIGN NOTE: The Vera Poncho Top is worked all in one piece, from the lower front edge to the lower back edge. The enlarged lace look is achieved with multi-stitch decreases and increases paired with YO's. Knitters should be comfortable both knitting into the same stitch more than once as well as decreasing multiple stitches.

DESIGNER QUOTE: "I love the idea of a poncho reimagined--the Vera Poncho Top is not your mother's oversized, fringed poncho; it's a whole new look for the 21st century. It has a relaxed feel to it, but you can actually dress it up and wear it to the office or a party too--a well-rounded garment, infinitely wearable."–Rosemary Drysdale
