Nothing complements Fall and Winter knitting better than wool roving yarns. Thick and singly-plied, the MONTANA family of yarns is perfect for cold weather knitting and layering. They are soft, lofty, and plush, and possessed of a wonderful ability for showcasing stitchwork.

BIG MONTANA, a super-bulky roving yarn in the natural, undyed colors of the sheep's coat, demonstrates how beautifully stitchwork can pop with the right yarn in the HAWTHORNE PONCHO (above). MONTANA, a bulky, unprocessed roving, and MONTANA PRINT, a bulky, self-striping roving seen in the free pattern, MICHELANGELO WRAP (bottom right), round out the family and color-coordinate with COYOTE, a roving bulky yarn with tufts of faux fur for added textural detail.
Fall/Winter 2012 is all about chunky knits without the added bulk, and the MONTANA family is perfect for just that. The HAWTHORNE PONCHO is a great, stylized replacement for a Fall coat, with arm openings for ease of movement, and feels like an updated, chic Red Riding Hood garment.

DESIGN NOTE: The broken rib panels of the HAWTHORNE PONCHO are worked separately and attached to the center front and back in finishing, giving the garment clean geometric lines.

A NOTE FROM THE TSC TEAM: We'd like to take a moment to acknowledge all those affected by Hurricane Sandy. With our offices located in New York City, we were very fortunate to have been spared the massive damage, loss of electricity, and fresh water that many are still battling. The recovery will take time, but we New Yorkers are known for our resiliency and are sure to bounce back shortly.
