Cathedral Reminders
Weekly Updates from Christ Church Cathedral in Lexington, Kentucky

June 26, 2016 - Sixth Sunday after Pentecost
Find Your Soul Purpose at Christ Church Cathedral

No matter who you are, or where you are on your spiritual journey you are welcome at Christ Church Cathedral.

Christ Church Cathedral serves a unique ministry in the heart of Lexington. We are a people of prayer and action, eager to serve those in our community.  We have programs and events for all generations.  Everyone can find a place for involvement and service as we seek to extend God's love made known in Jesus Christ.

The mission of Christ Church Cathedral is to restore all persons to unity with God and one another in Christ Jesus, through prayer, worship, proclamation of the Gospel, and the promotion of Justice, Peace and Love.

God has a dream to heal the world.  Cathedrals are meant to give us a glimpse of that dream, and in so doing, to fortify and inspire us for that life-giving work.

If you would like to know more about the Cathedral, please call Parish Secretary Margaret Christensen at 859-254-4497 or email her here to setup an appointment. Also, visit our website at www.ccclex.org.

Your Prayers Are Requested For Our Adult Pilgrims
Pilgrims from Christ Church Cathedral request your prayers as they prepare for one of the most important Christian pilgrimages, the Camino de Santiago. Dating from the 9th century, the Camino de Santiago (The Way of St James) is a large network of ancient pilgrim routes stretching across Europe.  Walking 10-13 miles per day from Portugal to Spain, the pilgrims' journey of spiritual devotion will culminate at the tomb of St. James (Santiago in Spanish) located in the Cathedral de Santiago, where they will take part in the Pilgrim's Mass and witness the huge Botafumeiro, the famous thurible that spectacularly swings across the vast expanse of the cathedral's transepts.  Please pray for our pilgrims' journey of sacred encounter and spiritual transformation. Follow their journey at cccadultpilgrimage.blogspot.com. The pilgrims: Bernie Conrad, Elizabeth Conrad, Allison Duvall, Ed Hartley, Beth  Headley, Pat Henrickson, Becky Horine, Tracey Meyers, Diane Milburn, Holly Milburn, Trudy Tibbs, Carol Wade, Cindy Ware, Jim Ware

John Hodgman Retires; Jim Ware Steps In
John Hodgman has retired from his many years of caring for our Church buildings in a multitude of big and small ways. John started in 2003 and is in his 14th year of this remarkable ministry. John's workshop is legendary, as is his ability to fix nearly any problem with the facilities! These are big shoes to fill for big Church buildings. Long-time member Jim Ware has stepped into this position, and John has been showing him the many details of how to keep these buildings running and looking great. We offer our heartfelt thanks to both John and Jim for this ministry!

Church Under the Bridge, July 10
On Sunday, July 10th, Christ Church will host Church Under the Bridge at The Episcopal Diocese of Lexington (Mission House) located at the corner of E Fourth Street and N Martin Luther King Blvd.  Volunteers are needed at Mission House at 2:00pm to set up chairs, make sandwiches, roll utensils, set up the buffet table, greet guests, serve the meal and clean up after lunch is over.  Finally, we need 15 dozen cookies, homemade or store bought; either are greatly appreciated! Cookies can be dropped off in the Great Hall before or after the 10:00am service on July 10th. This is a great opportunity for us to serve our less fortunate neighbors who are in need of a kind word, a warm smile and a hot meal.  If you are interested in participating in this rewarding ministry, please sign up at the Welcome Center or contact Mary Catherine Dorsett at mcdorsett@gmail.com.

America the Beautiful Gallery Hop, July 15

City Reach & Global Impact

Diaper Drive A Success!
Christ Church Community Cupboard is extraordinarily thankful for the generosity and support of this community of faith with the diaper drive! Generous Cathedral members donated $285 toward the purchase of diapers and 45 packages of diapers. This will go a long way toward helping parents and babies in need. Did you know a typical child will use over 4,500 diapers from birth to 24 months?

Christ Community Cupboard Needs Your Help!
The Cupboard is a mission of Christ Church Cathedral which provides household and personal hygiene products as well as clothing to clients in need who are referred by Family Resource Centers and social workers. Several volunteer jobs are open: 1) ordering supplies; 2) checking in supplies; 3) picking up supplies; 4) inventory control; 5) stocking shelves. This is a great opportunity for high school students in need of community service hours, and their parents too. You can set your own schedule. Please contact Kathleen Imhoff for more details, 859-509-4092 or
