"The Holy Spirit is the energy of God, " proclaimed Presiding Bishop Michael Curry. Recalling the writing of theologian Krister Stendahl, Curry declared,  "It is the dynamic force that makes things happen."  

On Pentecost Sunday at Christ Church Cathedral, Presiding Bishop Curry reminded us that Pentecost marks the birth of the Jesus movement in this world.  It celebrates the day that Jesus' followers were filled with the energy of God, the dynamic force that makes things happen.  It inaugurated a movement that turned the world upside down as followers of Jesus became witnesses to his way of love.     

As we inaugurated our yearlong celebration of 220 years of mission and ministry at Christ Church, Bishop Curry declared that the same energy that came upon the first disciples has come upon us.  Filled with the Spirit of Jesus, he called us to commit ourselves to follow the way of Jesus-to live like Jesus, to love like Jesus, to give and forgive and to work for justice.  "Nothing happens without energy," preached Curry, but filled with the Spirit of Jesus, we can live like Jesus and change the world.
