Christ Church Cathedral serves a unique ministry in the heart of Lexington. We are a people of prayer and action, eager to serve those in our community.  We have programs and events for all generations.  Everyone can find a place for involvement and service as we seek to extend God's love made known in Jesus Christ.

The mission of Christ Church Cathedral is to restore all persons to unity with God and one another in Christ Jesus, through prayer, worship, proclamation of the Gospel, and the promotion of Justice, Peace and Love.

God has a dream to heal the world.  Cathedrals are meant to give us a glimpse of that dream, and in so doing, to fortify and inspire us for that life-giving work.

Summer Sunday Morning Worship Times
Last summer so many told us how much they enjoyed combining summer services so participants in different services can worship together during the summer, that we are doing it again! The schedule is as follows:
Sunday, May 29 (Memorial Day Weekend), through Sunday, September 4 (Labor Day Weekend)
8:00am - Rite I service in the Chapel without music
9:00am - Coffee and doughnuts
10:00am - A traditional Rite II service with choir in the Church. Children's Chapel will be offered during this service only.
11:00am - Light refreshments in the Garden
We return to our regular morning service schedule on Sunday, September 11, with three morning services at 7:45, 8:45 and 11:00am and breakfast at 9:30am.

Summer Sunday Evening Worship Times (Sanctuary)
Through June 26; break during July; returning Sunday, August 7
6:00pm - Sanctuary in the Church
Sanctuary will take a break for the month of July, so there will be no evening  service during that time. It will return Sunday, August 7.

Cathedral Closed on Memorial Day
The Cathedral and Church offices will be closed on Monday, May 30, in observance of the Memorial Day holiday.

Newcomer Blessing, June 5 at 10:00am
We would like to invite you to attend a special service of blessing newcomers to Christ Church Cathedral on Sunday, June 5 at the 10:00am service. In the course of the service we will affirm and bless all in this year who have come to call this Cathedral their church. This Cathedral needs you, and we in turn are blessed by you being a part of this congregation. Cathedral Runners, June 4
Get excited! You have the opportunity to go for a Saturday morning run and visit with Marc and Gwen Mathews! All this will go down on Saturday, June 4. Plan to arrive at the Mathews' home (2076 Lakeside Drive) no later than 8:00am ready to go. At 9:00am, we are going to enjoy a nice post run brunch provided by the Mathewses. A Service of Welcome for Bishop Caldwell, June 18
Bishop Bruce Caldwell was elected by special convention of the Diocese of Lexington to begin serving our diocese as Bishop Provisional beginning in June.  Please join us for a Service of Welcome for Bishop Caldwell on Saturday, June 18, 10:00am at Christ Church Cathedral.  All are invited.

Cathedral Youth End of Year Lock-In, June 3-4
Harry Potter: A Night at the Cathedral
Friday, June 3 - Saturday, June 4
6:00pm-9:00am
You don't want to miss out on the Cathedral Youth's most magical event, filled with marvelous food, mythical games, and miraculous friends. Our enchanted evening will begin with the sorting, as you find your house, and compete for the Cup throughout our time together. Whether you want to try your hand as Seeker on the Quidditch field (i.e. Gratz Park), or take a lesson in potion making (ice cream sundae style), then join us for Harry Potter: A Night at the Cathedral! Commodores, June 3
Jim Birchfield, author of "Clay Lancaster's Kentucky," will speak at the next Commodores gathering on Friday, June 3, in the Great Hall.  He will highlight the Cathedral's current exhibit of Clay Lancaster's photography and pioneering work in historic preservation.  Arrive by 7:00 for social time and pot luck dinner.  Bring meat, vegetable, or salad dish to serve 10-12. Note that dessert, appetizers, and bread are furnished.  If you cannot come for dinner, arrive by 8:00 for the program.  All are welcome so come and bring a friend.

Cathedral Summer Picnic, June 12
Everyone is invited to a Cathedral summer picnic at the farm of Allen and Ann Whitney Garner (3374 Briar Hill Road) on Sunday, June 12, at 6:00pm. This is a great way to kick off the summer! Invite a friend to join us! Children's activities begin at 4:30pm. There will be a petting zoo, parachute games and tie-dye t-shirts. This is the first day of VBS, and the children want you to share in the fun. What you need to bring: camp or lawn chairs or blanket; your own picnic supper and drinks; and a dessert to share. Sunday Morning Book Study Beginning June 12

Vacation Bible School - "Submerged: Come Dive With Us", June 12-15
Registration is now open for this exciting summer event for kids! On Sunday, June 12, 4:30-7:30pm, we'll be at the Garner's Farm.  This will be a potluck and children and parents are invited to attend. Monday, June 13, through Wednesday, June 15, we'll be at Christ Church Cathedral, 9:00am-noon. For ages 5 & up; age 4 welcome with a parent. Come dive with us and bring your friends. Young Adult Hospitality at Home, June 17
Come join us for an evening of fabulous fellowship, delicious food, and lots of fun on Friday, June 17 at 6:30pm! Hospitality at Home is one of the Cathedral Young Adults most popular events, and you won't want to miss our summer gathering at our gracious hosts' home, Nick & Robert Baumgartner. Cathedral Choirs to sing at Washington National Cathedral
The Cathedral Choir will sing for three days at Washington National Cathedral. Evensong at 5:30pm on Friday, June 25, Eucharist at 11:00am on Sunday, June 27, and Evensong at 4:00pm on Sunday. June 27. Join us for worship in DC, or watch online at www.cathedral.org.

St. Louis Urban Mission Trip, July 12-17
The Cathedral Youth are heading to St. Louis for a week of mission and adventure. Our week will center on our Baptismal Covenant as we seek to live into the fellowship our Apostles taught us: serve others and celebrate resurrection. Open to rising 7th - 12th graders. Thursday Noon Eucharists at St. Augustine's Chapel
St. Augustine's Chapel will hold a contemplative noon Eucharist the first Thursday of every month over the summer. All are welcome to attend. City Reach & Global Impact  

Church Under the Bridge, June 5 
On Sunday, June 5, Christ Church will host Church Under the Bridge at The Episcopal Diocese of Lexington (Mission House) located at the corner of E Fourth Street and N Martin Luther King Blvd.  Volunteers are needed at Mission House at 2:15pm to set up chairs, make sandwiches, roll silver ware, buffet table set up, greet guests, serve the meal and clean up after lunch is over.  Finally, we need 15 dozen cookies, homemade or store bought; either are greatly appreciated. Cookies can be dropped off in the Great Hall before or after the 10:00 service on June 5. This is a great opportunity for us to serve our less fortunate neighbors who are in need of a kind word, a warm smile and a hot meal.  If you are interested in participating in this rewarding ministry, please sign up at the Welcome Center or contact Mary Catherine Dorsett at mcdorsett@gmail.com.

Christ Community Cupboard Diaper Drive, May 8 - June 19
The Cupboard is in great need of diapers. Each month the Cupboard distributes over 50 packages of diapers to families in need. We are having a Diaper Drive May 8 - June 19 to help with this need! Please donate packages of diapers sizes 2 & 3 and place them in the Cupboard diaper bins in the Great Hall and near the Welcome Center, or provide a financial donation in the collection plate on Sundays with "Cupboard Diaper Drive" in the memo line.

Emergency Assistance Fund
Single lady living alone has been asked to move out of her apartment by landlord as her ex-husband has been harassing her and police have been called numerous times. She wants to move to address where he cannot find her and needs $100 toward her deposit. If you can help with all or part of this, please make a check payable to Christ Church Cathedral and write EAF (Emergency Assistance Fund) on the memo line. Bless you!

Vacation Bible School Volunteers & Supplies Needed
Vacation Bible School dates for this summer are Sunday, June 12 through Wednesday, June 15.  This amazing program requires many volunteers to organize, prepare materials, donate supplies, and help onsite.  No experience needed!!  Please consider how you can help. Contact Jo Geddes at 492-3404 or maryjo.geddes@fayette.kyschools.us to volunteer or be a team leader. The wishlist is as follows: Mason jars, tie dye kits, rubber bands, rubber gloves, string, scissors, noodles (variety, dyed different colors), paper towel holders, tacky glue, fabric scissors, fabric markers, buckets of rocks to hold flags, poles for flags, various colors of blue sheets for students to sit on, tan sheets, paper plates, utensils, napkins, cups.
