Presiding Bishop to Visit the Cathedral
on May 15!

It is with delight that we will celebrate the Cathedral's 220th birthday on Pentecost, Sunday, May 15, with Presiding Bishop Michael Curry preaching and presiding at our 8:45 and 11:00am services!

Presiding Bishop Curry is the highest elected official of the Episcopal Church.  He is a nationally known author and is celebrated for his passionate preaching, racial reconciliation and for finding new ways to spread the teachings of Jesus. His book, Crazy Christians, is available in our bookstore.

Pentecost is a great day on which to welcome Bishop Curry.  This major feast day celebrates the gift of the Holy Spirit to all who follow Jesus. On Pentecost, Christ gives us all that we need to engage in God's mission in the world.  We hear the story of fearful followers strengthened by the Spirit who begin to share God's love with others -- and the Church is born.  Pentecost is often called the birthday of the Church.  It also marks the 220th birthday of Christ Church.

Presiding Bishop Curry's visit to our Cathedral on Pentecost Sunday is a perfect opportunity for a "Friend Raising Sunday" - in other words, invite a friend and spread the word on social media!

Please join me in welcoming Presiding Bishop Curry on May 15, 2016.

Music Notes

Pentecost Sunday, May 15, marks beginnings and endings for many of our Cathedral choristers. On Pentecost Sunday, we offer Evensong at 4:00pm. The service will include promotions of our rising singers and valedictions for our graduates. This year's 12th grade graduates from Cathedral Girls Choir are Brennan Burke, Erilyn Jackson, Quentin Prewitt and Lucy McFarlane. From the Cathedral Mens Choir, we recognize Connor Dellarosa and Davis Fugate. Several of these choristers have been singing at Christ Church since they were 8 or 9 years old! Congratulations to all.
