Transition Team Formed
Somerset Medical Center (SMC) and Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital (RWJ) have formed the joint Transition Team, charged with planning the merger of our two organizations. In determining how to best integrate into one hospital, the team will focus on how to improve health care services and access within our communities; quality outcomes; patient, employee and physician satisfaction; and the long term financial strength of the new entity. The transition team, which will be meeting frequently for the coming months, includes the following representatives from SMC: Ken Bateman, president and CEO; Vicky Allen, vice president of marketing, public relations and community services; Vinnie Brigandi, manager of process improvement; Mary Ann Bross, vice president of human resources and emergency preparedness; Dave Dyer, vice president of information technology services and planning and chief information officer; Elizabeth McNutt, director of planning; Carl O'Brien, senior vice president of finance/chief financial officer; and Maureen Schneider, senior vice president of clinical program development/chief nursing officer. They are joined by their counterparts from Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital: Vincent Joseph, executive vice president; Kristen Bell, executive assistant to Mr. Joseph; Brandon Druker, financial analyst; Marty Everhart, senior vice president of human resources; Robert Irwin, chief information officer and vice president of information services; Michael Knecht, vice president of communications and community relations; Mary Kay Silverman, assistant vice president of nursing; Lydia Stockman, administrative director of radiology, special procedures and executive health; and Kenny Wright, assistant vice president of finance. In addition to the planning meetings, groups from each hospital will be touring both campuses to meet our staff and physicians, as well as get a better understanding of the facilities and technology we use to support our patients. Throughout this planning process, we will provide regular updates on the progress of the transition teams. Thank you for your continued cooperation and support.
