A COMMITTEE ON ACCREDITATION OF CAAHEP

AUGUST 2016
2015 CAAHEP Standards--a Crosswalk
On January 1, 2016, the 2015 CAAHEP Standards and Guidelines for Accreditation of Educational Programs in the Emergency Medical Services Professions went into effect. All programs are required to meet the new Standards. To assist programs with identifying the changes, two documents have been made available: 1) a Summary of Changes and 2) a Crosswalk from the 2005 CAAHEP Standards to the 2015 CAAHEP Standards. The Crosswalk  highlights the differences between the documents.

These documents are for reference purposes only and do not replace the CAAHEP Standards. The original plan was to use these documents internally at the CoAEMSP; however, there was sufficient feedback from the program directors that these would be useful reference tools.

The CoAEMSP Interpretations of the CAAHEP Standards will be released in September. The interpretations remain the same for the unchanged Standards.  Some changes were minor modifications or clarifications of wording, such as updating the description of the levels of EMS Professionals.  Other changes incorporated existing interpretations so are not really a new requirement.  There are a few substantive changes.

This updated accreditation workshop will focus on the new 2015 CAAHEP Standards and the new Self Study Report templates. This workshop is a must for new program directors as well as seasoned program directors!

Because all programs will be transitioning to the new Self Study Reports (SSRs), and more than 200 programs will be going through the accreditation process for the first time, these workshops will serve as an invaluable resource.
By the Numbers
