Be Sure You Submit it Correctly!
Response to Findings Letter & Progress Reports Due June 1
..........................................................................
Staff Contact: karen@coaemsp.org, x111
...........................................................................

Do you have a progress report due June 1? Have you recently hosted a site visit and have a response to the site visit findings due June 1? Be sure to submit it as a single PDF document to Karen (karen@coaemsp.org) on or before June 1 to prevent a recommendation for probation or a withhold of accreditation.

Imagine, you are charged with reviewing 70 programs' accreditation records. Imagine the documentation you have submitted for ONE program multiplied by 70. Imagine the person receiving the 70 programs' submissions and collating it for dissemination to the Board. That's what the CoAEMSP is faced with!

To ensure ALL of the documentation is received and reviewed, programs MUST:
  •     submit a single PDF document
  •     submit documentation on time
  •     no embedded documents
  •     no external links
Failure to submit the document as a single PDF document or eliminate all links and embedded files will delay the review of the program's accreditation record.

The CoAEMSP Board has taken a hard stance on reports submitted after the deadline, in multiple files, or the wrong format. The report or response will be considered not received and the Board will NOT review the material.
Have You Reviewed it Lately? You Should!
CoAEMSP Interpretations of the CAAHEP Standards and Guidelines

This companion document contains the CAAHEP Standards and Guidelines with CoAEMSP interpretations adopted by CoAEMSP through policies.

The interpretations are NOT part of the Standards and Guidelines document and are subject to change by CoAEMSP. Policy revisions may occur often, so this document should be reviewed frequently to ensure the most current version.

CoAEMSP Board Chair Doug York is Elected to CAAHEP Board of Directors
Doug York
At the CAAHEP Annual Meeting held April 19-20 in San Antonio, Doug York, current Chair of the CoAEMSP Board of Directors, was elected by the CAAHEP Commissioners to represent the CoAs on the CAAHEP Board of Directors. Doug will start his 3-year term on July 1, 2014.

The last time a CoAEMSP representative sat on the CAAHEP board was more than ten years ago, when Dr. James Atkins held a position.

As a board member, Doug will be involved in the strategic and operational planning of CAAHEP, have a chief role in CAAHEP's growth and development, and review and act on accreditation recommendations of all Committees on Accreditation (COAs).

The CoAEMSP is honored to have Doug's expertise in EMS education recognized in this capacity, and looks forward to his contributions on the CAAHEP board.

Excellence in Fire Service-Based EMS Awards Presented to Two Accredited Programs

At the 26th Annual National Fire & Emergency Services Dinner held in Washington D.C., May 1, the City of Memphis Fire Services and Howard County (Maryland) Department of Fire & Rescue were recognized with Excellence in Fire Service-Based EMS Awards.

The awards recognize best practices in EMS by U.S. fire departments, and encourage others to improve their fire service-based EMS systems.

Criteria for consideration for the awards include implementing a unique practice that enhances delivery of EMS. The practice must also affect firefighter and paramedic safety in a positive manner, improve delivery of EMS to patients, and practice efficient deployment of resources.

The CoAEMSP is proud of these CAAHEP-accredited programs and hope their examples inspire others to serve their communities with excellence.
