workers' comp costs |
Issue 6 (May 2013) of John Burton's Workers' Compensation Resources Research Report contains an in depth analysis of national and state data for employers' workers' comp costs. Among its findings is the large discrepancy that exists in statistics for 25 states examined by both the National Academy of Social Insurance and the Oregon Dept. of Consumer and Business Services. In John Burton's September 2013 supplement you'll find additional analysis comparing the Oregon rate ranking study and the NASI data. Each study has its own limitations. If you recall, earlier this year the NYCIRB disputed the methodology used in the Oregon study to find that New York had the fifth highest workers' comp rates in the country.
