Simone Orphanage
Saved from the streets
The Simone Orphanage near Les Cayes, Haiti is home to approximately 30 orphaned, abandoned, or neglected children. These dear children are cared for by several dedicated Christian women who had a heart and a vision several decades ago to provide a haven for children. There they are nurtured, educated, and taught the gospel message of salvation. Without Simone Orphanage, these children would be hungry, forgotten, illiterate and without hope or the opportunities of life that most of us take for granted.

The beginning of AC support
Approximately ten years ago, brothers and sisters from the Francesville, IN church first became acquainted with the Simone Orphanage. The orphanage is now supported by both Francesville and HarvestCall through work teams and financial support. HarvestCall Caribbean Committee members regularly visit there to observe and lend their support to the work there. The orphanage is located just down the road from the Citi Lumiere guest house.

A growing ministry
As the number of children has grown, the needs for more space and upgraded facilities has increased. A second facility is now under construction nearby, just north of Les Cayes. One of the facilities will house the younger students and the other will house the older students as they mature and transition into adulthood.

Spared from the hurricane
Some of you have asked how the Simone Orphanage was affected by Hurricane Matthew. While there was some minor damage to the buildings, needed repairs were minimal, and the operation was unaffected. Fortunately, the children safely survived the hurricane. While many other structures in the area sustained major damage and disruption, the sturdy orphanage was spared. They are all thankful for God's protection and provision as they continue to minister to the dear young people.

Suffer the little children to come unto me, and forbid them not: for of such is the kingdom of God. Mark 10:14

How you can help

Pray
First of all, pray for the children at the Simone Orphanage. Pray for the staff that
provides the nurturing Christian care that they are in need of. Pray for the brothers on the Caribbean Committee and the Francesville church as they support the home financially, that they could be given wisdom and discernment in the decisions made in support of the home.

When my father and my mother forsake me, then the Lord will take me up.
Psalm 27:10.

From our youth we have sung, " Jesus loves the little children." As evidenced by this ministry at the Simone orphanage, He often loves and cares for them through the benevolence and deeds of those who love Him. Thank you for the many ways you love others in His name.

In Christian Love,
John Huber
