Battered, but blessed
As an eventful year comes to a close at Hospital Lumiere, we give thanks for your support and God's protection and provision. This medical ministry would not be possible without these blessings. We are making a positive difference in Haiti and becoming more and more appreciated by the surrounding communities.

"Miracle child's" journey - Jocelyn in his new home

Jocelyn, the severely ill child who was abandoned by his parents and left at Hospital Lumiere, has settled into his new home in Les Cayes with Pastor and Madam Geneste. The transition went smoothly and Jocelyn seems to have adjusted well. Jocelyn's new home is a much better environment for him as he now enjoys family structure and routine. Pastor and Madam Geneste welcome all who would like to stop by and visit. Please continue to pray for Jocelyn's new family and for his health and development.

And whoso shall receive one such little child in my name receiveth me. Matthew 18:5
Nussbaums: answering the call to serve

Bro. Lucas and Sis. Raya Nussbaum of the Forrest Apostolic Christian congregation, have been appointed to serve at Hospital Lumiere. Raya will serve as the Patient Care Manager at the hospital. Raya is a nurse and will use her skills and experience to work alongside our Haitian nurses at the hospital. Lucas has experience working as an electrician and in construction. They both desire to serve the Lord through His mission at the hospital.

The Nussbaum's have completed the HarvestCall missionary pre-placement process and have received support from their home elder and the Hospital Lumiere board. As they prepare for their new role in Haiti, they will continue to receive cross-cultural preparation, family training, individual counseling, and missionary orientation. In addition a support system will be established through their home church in Forrest.

They have 4 children, Alayna (13), Tucker (10), Cy (3) and Henry (1). They plan to move to Haiti early 2017 and will spend their first three months doing language and culture training. They will live on the campus of Hospital Lumiere.

Over the past several months, the Nussbaum's have felt God calling them to do His work in Haiti. In July, they spent 3 weeks living and working at Hospital Lumiere to help clarify the mission that God had called them to. They feel at peace knowing they are following God's call and are trusting in Him as they move forward in this journey. The Nussbaums are thankful and would ask for prayers as they serve.

Thus would I go for Jesus hath called me, Him would I follow day unto day; Care for the dying, raise up the fallen, Pointing the lost to Jesus the way. (Hymns of Zion 180)

It is humbling to observe the outpouring of support from our churches for the many ministries of HarvestCall, including Hospital Lumiere. We are thankful that the Nussbaum's found grace to respond to the need for their gifts in a harvest field far away. For most of us, the field we are called to is all around us. For each family our brotherhood sends to minister abroad, many diligent brothers and sisters are needed in supporting roles who will pray, mentor, volunteer, and support financially.

This is truly God's work and lives are being changed as our brotherhood continues proclaiming Christ and serving others both at home and abroad; Glory to His name!

In Christian Love,
John Huber
