Water everywhere
As many of you know, the state of Louisiana was hit by record breaking rainfall in August as the result of what is described as an "inland tropical depression." Over a four-day period, rain accumulations of up to 31" were recorded in the state. Many rivers in the area experienced record levels with crests up to 7.5' above flood stage. Thousands of families have been driven from their homes as a result of flooding.

How HarvestCall is responding

While we do not have volunteers working in Louisiana, we are sending relief through several Christian disaster relief organizations who do have a presence in the area, such as The Salvation Army. Numerous semi loads of Disaster Boxes, containing food and personal hygiene items sufficient to sustain a family of four for about 3 - 4 days, have been shipped down via Midwest Food Bank. Each box also contains either a Bible or a Bible Story Book - food for the souls of these
desperate families. One of the guiding principles of HarvestCall states that "we will proclaim and demonstrate Christ's love in such a way that the Gospel is never secondary." Thus, the gospel message is a primary component of our relief efforts.

Many volunteers have been gathering at our Bluffton Distribution Center to assemble Disaster Boxes. We are grateful for all the participation.

How you can help
  • HarvestCall has allocated $100,000 for Louisiana relief. If you would like to support this disaster relief effort financially, please give to the Disaster Fund. Select "Disaster General Fund" when you give online, or put a check in your church collection box, or mail it to address below, with "Disaster Fund" in the memo.
  • In addition, please pray for the many families who find themselves in a very desperate position through no neglect of their own.
